Disney World was amazing! We managed to cram Magic Kingdom, Epcot and MGM Studios into one day. We were in the parks for almost 12 hours. Since Laurie used to work there, we got awesome parking and getting in free to the parks was pretty nice too. Laurie also still knows a lot of people that still work there who were able to hook us up with lots of extra fast passes that let you skip to the front of the lines. The rides were tons of the fun and the parks were so empty anyway. They had "redone" the Pirates of the Caribbean ride but I didn't see any differences except that there were a few Jack Sparrows periodically placed throughout the ride. That first day was exhausting. Space Mountain, the Rockin Roller Coaster, the Haunted Mansion and the Tower of Terror were just as good as I remembered them. We nearly caused a riot at Thunder Mountain when the guy working the front of the line happened to know Laurie and let all of us skip about 25 people to get on the ride. Whatever, it was fun. We went for drinks with a few of Laurie's friends later that night. I had a mojito. It is my new favorite drink. That next day, we did Animal Kingdom which I had never been to before because I had always heard that it was not good. Laurie used to work there so she made sure that we saw the good stuff and it was actually a lot of fun. The Everest Ride is amazing. We then went back to MGM studios for the rest the day because it was ESPN weekend and Allison and Laurie wanted to see more athletes. Essentially, it was a bunch of guys that I had no clue who they were. The only name I recognized, Shaun Alexander!, we missed by two hours. We went to Downtown Disney that night for some shopping and wandering around. We then went to this really cool piano bar called Jelly Rolls on the Boardwalk. It was essentially like Twist and Shout and Rum Runners except that they played Disney songs too. It was lots of fun.
The whole weekend was really relaxing because I barely spent any money and I just had to follow Laurie around since she knew where she was going the entire time. It was the perfect weekend with perfect weather and I was surprisingly productive on the 9 hour drive each way since Allison drove practically the whole time.
I miss y'all!!
