OK here it goes...
Last night, I went to poker and one of my friends, Ben, asked me if I wanted to go out with him and our friend Matt after poker. I really couldn't think of any excuse not to so I decided, why not? So, I went. Todd and Tony, two more of our friends ended up joining us. So, it was me and the four boys.
I had fun. I had a lot of fun.
First, we went to Brother's which is a kind of college bar with a dress code. (No backwards hats, baggy jeans, etc.) I got in free (which made them mad...hehe). It $3 for a mug with a mixed drink and then $1 refills for the rest of the night. I went with the good 'ol Amaretto (sp?) Sour. (Good job getting me hooked on that one Sara!) I only had two, but we just kinda sat around and talked, they would go hit on girls at random intervals and I would laugh at them. When the bar closed down at two, we went to iHop to get some food and in true poker-obsessed fashion, we played Texas Hold-em with sugar packets and these miniature cards that Todd had. It was so sad, but so fun. After that, we went and hung out at Todd and Tony's apartment for a little bit and then it was time to head home around 5 AM. I mean, geez, I had to get up at 10 AM to work.
It was weird to be out without my ex-roomies, but it was cool too. Four guys who didn't really know much about "me" and all of my baggage, just out to have a good time. There were no sarcastic remarks, no "How would you know?" moments. It was fun.
I got to work today! I missed those kids so much. I went straight for Arthur and he looked at me for a second and then he just smiled and ran up to me. It was so cool. Olive gave me a big hug and cuddled in my lap after her nap. I didn't realize that I missed those kids as much as I did, but I did, and I LOVE my job! Can't wait for Monday.
This semester, I'm volunteering in the surgery wing of the hospital instead of mother/baby. it worked with my schedule better. So, I'm like Meredith Grey I feel. Haha, that'll be interesting though. It'll be a lot different from the maternity ward I'm sure so I'm looking forward to it. I start this Wednesday.
Just trying to stay busy, fill in my days with work and school and my nights with volunteering and poker. Plus, movies. Haha, always time for that!
