Thanks to iamsab and dremiel for setting me up with DVDs! (The latter didn't play in my laptop, unfortunately, but maybe they will elsewhere.) I've seen the pilot and episodes 6-10, but don't worry about spoilers. This doesn't seem to be a show based around surprise ( Read more... )

I haven't seen the show yet myself, although several friends are fangirling it rather heavily -- actor Christian Kane is apparently of mixed white/Cherokee descent and I've seen a few interviews where he identifies as Indian, although from what I've heard his character isn't being presented as anything but white so far.

Thanks, I didn't know that. If it's gotten into Elliot's ancestry at all, it was in episodes I missed.

They have not talked about Eliot's ancestry, but his only real nod to backstory has been an ex-girlfriend in one episode. There's been no talk of his home/family at all.

All the better for those of us desperately looking for cool NDN characters (or, really, ANY characters at all...) on the telly to be able to imagine the character's mixed, too, then!

(Yeah, I know, it's pathetic to be so grateful for media crumbs...but even the crumbs come along so rarely, and at least this serving of crumbs is pretty damn hot...)

Hardison and Parker are my favourites, although Elliot's flashbacks are priceless, too. How refreshing to have a black guy be the geek, not the muscle, and have him be the most socially competent one of the lot! Plus, Hardison's geekiness is *hardcore*, yo. I pretty much died in the Mile High episode when he gave everyone aliases named after old school Doctor Who actors/characters.

The plots are ludicrous and the writing is nothing spectacular, but the characters make me very happy indeed.

Argghh, So sorry. Initial test here gave good results but we're a Mac house. Try dl-ing a free MP4 to AVI program (there are a bunch) and see if that works.

You might try downloading the VLC media player too. Free, multi-platform, plays almost everything.

This:

("Have you ever been to Kiev? The Baker of Kiev could whip all our asses! And this guy's the Butcher!")

was my favorite line too. Agree with you about everything. I really like this show and if I disagree about anything, it's that I like Nate a bit more than you do, I like the way his face has aged and I think he's doing a good job of a (admittedly) hackneyed role.

I like the bit about Elliot liberating Croatia after he was dumped, too.
