More random thoughts:
1. The first story, the one in the church, really got to me. I had been wondering what had happened to all the planes-- surely some of the female passengers would fly private planes and be able to land one. I also love that it took Yorick five volumes and two years to get laid. Wonder if she'll get pregnant...
2. I continue to love the Russian woman and her fractured English.
3. So Beth is alive in the Outback. Looks like
marici's speculation that she was a male-to-female transsexual is wrong, as she's still alive and never met Ampersand. I still think that she must have some role to play in the overall story, but I have no idea how-- Australia is awfully far away, even more than...
4. Japan! Looks like we're going to Japan! WOO-HOO!
5. At this, the half-way point, I'm glad that we're getting some solid information doled out. The revelation that Ampersand was the key figure, and how it was all figured out, was clever, logical, and satisfying.
6. I had guessed that Dr. M was Dr. Mann's parent, but I had a crazy theory that it was her father, based mostly on the cloning thing. I am now transferring my suspicion that her father was responsible for the catastrophe to her mother.
7. I guess the "magic ring" theory is out. The Amulet of Helene is still a possibility, though, even though the amulet itself is no longer in play. Unless 355 managed to construct a fake really fast.
