Today was one of the best days I've had in Boston thus far. I got up early, went to the gym, had an orgasmically delicious Jamba Juice, and showered and stuff. I finally got to set aside a day for exploring Boston. I've seen all I've wanted of Fenway, I had to branch out. So I went to Boston College first, well the BC stop of the T. I wanted to look the so-called enemy in the face and galivant on their territory. Haha, galivant. Anyway, it was nice to see grass and trees, and I got some pretty sweet pixtures. I'll probably go back and take the T that actually goes closer to the dorms and buildings. I only felt that I was somewhat in the territory. I gotta get in the mix or something.
Then I was going to the South End and saw Sakeena on the T going to work. Funny how that happened. I actually saw Josh my teammate on the T when I was going to BC and my RA Ryan when I was going to the gym. I now know where the minorities are hidden in Boston, the orange line of the T. There must have been a whole Latino neighborhood on the T because they all knew each other. So yeah, the South End is everything I want and want to be when I become a 20-something and 30-something. Urban, the cool type of trendy, and making enough money to live in those sexy buildings. I loved it there, for the first time in Boston I felt at home. I pretty much figured if I find a job in Boston, I'm moving there eventually. There's a Neiman Marcus over there too. I saved myself the embarassment of having no money by just taking a picture of the sign instead of going in. There were a lot of cute guys in that area, a LOT of sexy Latinos. I got a bunch of good pictures there too. There's a boutique I didn't even have to go in to know it's me. I'll be back, with money hopefully.
Lastly, I went to Boston Common. It's funny because I was looking for a peaceful day in the park. Funny thing was there were like 3-4 rallies going on. I saw the crowd and thought to myself "Please be a Klan rally. Please be a Klan rally..." I was disappointed. I was hoping to run up to the crowd and hail Hitler much to the pleasure/dismay (b/c I'm blick, o'course) of everyone there. Well, Massachusetts apparently has a very active Klan population so I'm sure there will be plenty of times for me to piss of skinheads and sorted other racists. The rallies had to do with healthcare and benefits for somebody, anti-war stuff, anti-torture stuff, and anti-BU building a biolab stuff. There was probably more than that going on. There were 'hella' cops there. Greatest sign ever, or maybe just today: "Dykes for Peace." Crazy lesbians. I got some okay pixtures there, I was hoping there'd be skaters there. There weren't, probably too public for them. So today was definitely interesting/weird/exciting/informative.
Maybe next time I go on a "field trip" I can bring someone and/or some people. I do like my friends, despite what it looks like. I'm not ditching them, I'm just a loner, and I accomplish so much more alone.
Now some quotables from this week:
(In my writing class we read 'Abominations of Leviticus,' which is about just that, one of which is sex with an animal.)
Girl in my class: Do people really do that [sex with an animal]? I never heard of that before. I googled it and...
(The class erupts in laughter of course because we all know the consequences of googling sex with animals. It must be nice to be that ignorant.)
"Like some of the people are wealthy, you know, and I hate Preppies, I mean, I hate people who wear their collar up and stuff, like, you know, that's totally stupid, I mean, if so many people do it, I guess it's not so tupid, but it looks dumb, I don't know why they do it. And there's one girl...she'll ah, wear her collar, and whenever you say anything, or happen to mention "Preppy," she'll make sure it's up- you know, make sure it's good and up there."
--- Random "Jock" from the book Jocks & Burnouts (1989)
I just think it's funny how history repeats itself, mostly because fashion repeats itself. All these people jump on the popped collar fad and with it comes all the people who complain about it.
