A strange twist of fate...

Today my family collectively agreed to participate in a class action suit against the U.S. Army, Navy, and contractors for a pesticide exposure over a decade ago which left each of us with mercury poisoning. When I first became ill, I could think of nothing but seeking revenge on those who had damaged me and my family. It's strange that now, long after I've come to terms with it, someone should take interest in the case. It will undoubtedly take years to file--years that will be spent documenting the damages of other affected parties--and I don't even know what our chances of success are. (C'mon, it's a couple thousand people versus Uncle Sam.) But whatever the outcome, it feels good to participate. A couple years ago, I started writing an exposé about the experience, and I think I'll get back to it. How do you put a price on a decade, anyway?
