Thursday night we flew out to Reno. Landed around 10:30 local time, got our bags and realized that two of our travel partners did not have their bowling balls. Apparently an entire bin (?) of luggage did not make it on the airplane. Would not have been a huge deal except there wasn't another plane coming from Chicago until Friday night and we bowled at 4:00 Friday afternoon. Friday morning we were told they would arrive by 2 pm and thankfully they did.
Friday bowling sucked big donkey balls. I rolled an 81, 100, and 110. I got thrown off after the first ball I threw was a perfect pocket shot and wound up leaving a 7 10 split. Just couldn't get the brain to stop obsessing about every ball I threw after that, and well that just isn't a good combo.
Saturday bowling was much better, rolled a 381 series for doubles and a 397 series for singles putting me at a 118 average for the tournament, under average but not nearly as tragic as it could have been and I might cash a little.
Sunday morning we left for the airport at 6:00 for an 8:20 flight. We boarded the plane, started accelerating on the runway and all of a sudden stopped and turned around. Arrived back at the gate and were told that there was "a problem with the right engine" and they were going to get someone out to look at it. 15 minutes later they said something about an oil filter and they needed a part and that we were all going to be able to get off the plane. At around 9:30 they told us that the part was on its way and we should know by 12 if we were going to be able to get home or not. At 12 they told us a half an hour and we would board. At 12:45 they passed out meal vouchers and told us to be back to board by 1. At 2, we finally got on the plane and took off. That didn't get us on the ground until 7:00 central time and didn't get home until almost 10. Needless to say, if I never see the inside of the Reno airport, it will be too soon.
I have started planting the seeds that I will not be doing these bowling trips after Vegas, but I'm not sure anyone believes me.
Had the follow up appt with the ENT today, I am scheduled for nasal surgery on June 4. Apparently not only do I not have frontal sinuses (which explains why the other sinuses get infected so easily) I also have narrow turbinates, which are basically the tubes you pass air through in order to breathe. So, he is going to go in and basically rod out the inside of my nose. It is an outpatient procedure, so not as bad as it could be.
Made open faced bbq chicken sandwiches for dinner tonight. They are really good and use a rotisserie chicken, so in addition to dinner tonight, I have chopped up chicken for salads and have the carcass boiling for stock. Not bad for a $5 chicken.
Hoping to get into bed early tonight, I am still tired from the weekend and time changes.
