I ran 5k today!

Last Saturday I finished Couch-to-5k, which only took me 13 weeks (it's a nine-week program, but you're supposed to run three times a week and occasionally I would only get to run twice, so I'd re-do the week until I could run three times). While I could run for 30 minutes straight by the end (the last week of the program is to run 30 minutes or 5k), I was only running about 2 3/4 miles at my pace. D and I have decided to do the 5k race at the S.F. Marathon on Aug. 3, so I really need to pick up my pace and get myself running 3.1 miles asap.

Today when I got to the gym I decided to run for 32 minutes at a slightly faster pace. When 32 minutes were up, I was so close to 3.1 miles that it seemed silly to stop, as long as I still felt good, so I kept running. After 35 1/2 minutes, I reached 5k! It felt amazing and I'm so proud of myself...and now I feel like I can actually do this run!
