fr. fred's words of wisdom...

a motorist was driving in the country when he came upon a priest and a rabbi standing on the shoulder of teh road fishing. next to them was a sign that said, "turn around, the end is near." the motorist rolled down the window and yelled, "mind your own business, you religious nuts!" seconds later, the fishermen heard the tires screech, followed by a large splash. The rabbi turned to the priest and said, "i told you we should have just written 'bridge out'."

a bridge is a symbol of crossing over, of leaving behind, of going forth. now one part of you may feel you are at the beginning ready to cross a new bridge. Another part of you may feel like you are nearing the end of a bridge, ready for something new. This goes on through life as you move from one stage to another, from one relationship to another. we are always crossing bridges in our path.

now think about this: what kind of bridge are you? as a young woman, you will need to bring compassion, sensitivity, caring, love, service, and mercy into a life that many times will lack these values. It will be something only you as a woman can do. So, what kind of bridge will you be for the mercy values to cross into life?

will you be a sturdy concrete bridge or a busy freeway bridge? will you be a bridge needing lots of repair work, or a covered bridge? will you be a quiet country bridges or a swinging suspension bridge in the city?

the world needs the values that you have learned at MSM and have to offer to all those people you encounter. keep you bridge in goo shape by keeping God in your life. god bless you in your future work.
