I get where you're coming from, and why it's so frustrating, but I don't think that this is a time for finger-pointing.

and as much as it would seem nice to be able to have supplies at the ready the minute a major tragedy like this happens, it's just not realistic. it takes time to collect supplies, to get it to the location, to get it to all the people in the wreckage. it's not like everyone was just at this one safe and accessible spot where tons of life supplies could be easily handed out instantly without pandamonium.
these things just take time.
it wouldn't be a tragedy if it was so fixable.

personally, I think the animosity towards the people in power doesn't help. it just creates more discontent and frustration.

remember the whole "united we stand, divided we fall" thing?
I'm not saying that we, the middle and lower class, should just go along with everything that those with wealth and control have decided, I just think there's better ways of doing it than calling them idiots who don't care about the people. it's their occupation to care about the people of america, so while they may make choices that don't work well or we don't agree with, it's not because they're trying to turn their back on us. that's just a little melodramatic, don't you think?

I mean, think about this. why are we looking for people to blame for this? there aren't people to blame for what's going on in new orleans, there's a natural disaster to be blamed. it's called Katrina.

and that was beyond anyone's control, even george bush and capitalist america.

hmmm, I really hate talking politics.
it makes everyone so disagreeable.

I hope I'm not pissing you off chris baril.
I mean, you're way more politic-savvy than me, but this is just what I think.

Naw you're not pissing me off!

But the reason that the united states has done well thus far is because people put aside their politics and debated over who would do a better job at whatever. politicians these days do not care about what is best for the majority of the poeple or country, they just care about getting re-elected..

as far as them not turning their back on us.. that's exactly what bush did in new orleans. when he landed, all aircraft were ordered to land- supplies waited on aircraft carriers and on land, and people were not getting rescued. Literally, there are accounts of people reporting Bush in the area "helping out" people during the newscast but when the cameras were off, the trucks and supplies literally left leaving the people with nothing again.

and as much as it would seem nice to be able to have supplies at the ready the minute a major tragedy like this happens, it's just not realistic. it takes time to collect supplies, to get it to the location, to get it to all the people in the wreckage.

There is an entire agency dedicated to this sole purpose.. FEMA.. Federal Emergency Management Agency... there is a reason that these people are getting paid.. theyre sole purpose is to get supplies during a disaster or emergency to the people who need it, in a reasonable time. i can't really go on about this because i'll just end up repeating my self but i dont think that supporting people who fail to manage these things in a timely manner will help the victims. i do think that donating money and whatever we can will help, but i also think that pressure to get these things moving will help more.
