Good! there are few people who think like this. Thank god! this country have some features left :p
Ya you are right in saying how can one accumalate all the feelings for one day? Actually some one can't. The hype given to all these are little too much. I missed the chance to see how people spend on the days like this. ( was in office working till night, not midnight though).
The major thing which hurts me most by celebrating V'day is its background. I am somehow not very much opposing having a day for lovers (as you see AIDS day, Women day etc), every one should have their own day. But if you hear the story of valentine and the queen, it upsets you (I don't know for who all), I said it because, this story is of a relationship of a man with a married woman, which is always a sin in Indian Culture (I believe, everywhere).

>be it for the single ones or the couples or the married
i thought the words "couples" and "married" both mean the same!!!
>how can one schedule the emotions and accumulate it all just for the V-day??
this reminds me of the dialogue from the movie america america, "ella bhavanegalu weekendge barbeku andre aagutha??"

Well i do accept with you. Bit i'd like to add one more thing. Valentine's day is a day to celebrate LOVE but that has been misinterpreted especially in India. Actually my aunt sends me Happy V'day to my nephew every year from US. Here the word LOVE has been interpreted as something special b/w a boy and girl.
People just need a cause for celebration and they have found it in this. And if u c everything is now commercialized. Ya some people do gain a lot.
But what i feel about the V'DAY is that we need to drastically change our views about it and make it a celebration of the general human emotion called LOVE than just a particular aspect of it as being done now

i feel that V day is not just for a guy n gal.. or married couple
its celebration of LOVE
its not the matter of holding ones feelings 4 THE DAY
but a little more than a normal day...on which v would make our loved ones feel more special
it has its own significance...just like any of our festivals
but i do agree that its not celebrated in the right way in india
but its all in us....v can celebrate it in the right way

some of the aspects pointed out in ur comments r truly agreeable!!!
especially the ones regarding the celebration of the important days like "gandhi jayanthi " ....."martyr's day"......
but to bring a radical change is nevertheless a difficult task!
it's definitely easier said than done.....
