I kind of feel like 2009 will be the hardest year of my life so far, which makes me sort of dread it. :-/

No...no...no...You are going to be fine....She'll sleep a lot at the beginning and you'll get into a routine and you'll do just great!

Don't dread it! look forward to it!

And are you going to have drugs available for you when you give birth to Lilah?... because obviously that helps...

Nope...no drugs of any kind available.

Which may be totally insane, but we'll see :-)

Well, I hope you don't think I was being snarky...I really do hope it's not painful for you, and you get to experience it the way you want...

No! Not snarky! I don't think this is for everyone :-) I would've never guessed I'd be doing it this way.

Also, I'm not expecting it to NOT be painful. I'm not COMPLETELY nuts :-D I think it will hurt like a sonofabitch. But I just hope I can handle it.

Do you have a high threshold for pain?
Again, not being snarky, just wondering...lol

Generally, yes. And from what I understand, when you do go through completely unmedicated and without IVs diluting your natural endorphins, etc., it is an easier to deal with pain. For example, a lot of people who have induced labor would have a much more difficult labor because pitocin actually produces much harder, more painful and less "naturally rhythmic" contractions. So it's like, people aren't wrong in saying it's very painful and almost unbearable if they've gone through that, because it is!

I now know a few people who have done unmedicated births and while they admit that there is plenty of pain, they promise that it is bearable. Part of it has to do with knowing it's not going to last forever :-)

I think the trick is to really try and relax against the pain, which is going to be hard for me. So I imagine this is going to be difficult, but hey - I only have to do it once so if it sucks, I never have to do it again :-D
