Living on inertia...

Now that I've finally ceased being in motion, I will likely crash quickly, but I did want to do an update of sorts.

On the personal front:

Today was my last day at my job.  I totally feel like I could keep working, but not with the stress of having Christmas, Home, and Baby related things to do and such a long list of each at that.  If it were just Christmas stuff, I'd likely work until they let out for Christmas, and possibly even say I was returning for one day of work in January just to get the paid holiday leave, but it's over now and so no more money for me.

I'm really bummed...I liked the money but I also enjoyed my co-workers and it was somewhere that I didn't always feel like going to but that I didn't mind being at.  I totally wish I could walk in and get that exact job back one day.  It was perfect for me.  I know it's not for a person with a Master's Degree, but I'm not happy having to do a lot of work for little pay ESPECIALLY if it's not something that I love, and this was a position I felt more than fairly compensated for, PLUS I had people who gladly received the fruits of my baking labors.

So, since I am now jobless - again - I plan to spend the next three weeks busting my ass getting ready for baby and the holidays and making sure the house is in order.

Speaking of the house in order -

The renovations are going excellently.  All work to be done by outside people - aside from having someone come figure out how to make the roof stop leaking - is finished.  Ben is working on the trim work now and we will be moving furniture upstairs this weekend and clearing out the current "guest" room to be prepped for painting the following weekend.  Then I can hang all the awesome things we have on the walls, sew the bedding and curtains, and call it a day until the furniture arrives.  Oh, we should probably do some sort of awesome closet insert thingy, but I can't think about that right now...

This is what our house looked like to start with:

And here is what it looked like in various phases of the construction:

And here is the final product:

What's more amazing is what happens if you compare this to the picture Ben gave the contractor to show him what he wanted:

Pretty darn close, eh?

The inside transformation is even cooler:

Almost completed staircase!

And so what does this staircase lead to you ask?  Well, let's see what sprang up there...

There is more to it than this one section, but this is the new "Guest Sleeping Adcomodations" area, so I just thought it would be best to limit the photos.  Ben has now painted the trim and like I said - we plan to get the bed moved up there this weekend.  The renovation adds about 400 sq. ft. of livable space to the house, which is a lot when you start out with 1400 or something else small like that.

I'm pretty sure there was more I was going to write about, but I have a fetus working off a POWERFUL caffeine buzz right now and it is making me feel like I might rip in two at any second.  So I'm going to go and try to calm her down and see if I can't get some sleep.

Expect more as it becomes available....

renovation, update, state of the person
