Well, I think we all knew there was only a matter of time before something like this happened.

I also bet it will get the same if not more coverage on the news as the Iowa Caucus results.

I agree with you that she seems to have a target painted on her head with regard to attention. I also agree with you that she probably had some really bad post-partum depression that has been untreated that has lead her down this black hole of insanity.

However, I have to respectfully disagree that "we" are at any kind of fault for Britney Spears' mental demise. While I think she gets more attention than other celebrities, she also seeks it. By now, if she didn't want attention for her every action, she would learn to stay at home for more than 20 minutes a day. By now, she would learn to send an assistant out to pick up her starbucks or her cigarettes or her taco bell. She would not be taking papparazzi to a hotel and checking in and out with them for hours at a time, looking to all the world like some sort of "popstitute." She had two kids close together in age. That blows. I have two friends who did the same thing. Neither of them is blowing their entire monthly paychecks or driving around town being neglectful of their children. And besides that, Britney's problem, since it likely started after the birth of her first son, knew good and damn well how to not have a second baby right away. Hello - use some common sense and some birth control if you don't want more kids. And it was WIDELY reported that she was very unhappy about being pregnant a second time.

Finally - I know that fame can be a bitch. But there are plenty of other celebrity mothers out there who aren't fucking lunatics who neglect their children. Angelina Jolie - who can't fart without having a pap report it - has yet to do anything I consider really out there since she started having all those kids. I mean, they all seem pretty happy and taken care of. And sure, she's not in the middle of a nasty divorce, but still - same type of media pressure, but handling it much better. And I don't think it's just because she's only given birth to one of the four kids. What about Gwenyth Paltrow, or Jennifer Garner, or Sarah Jessica Parker, or any of the TONS of other celbumommy's who are just as famous as Britney, but who have learned to keep their family life mostly outside of the media, yet manage to do normal things like grocery shop and take their kids to the park, etc. etc.

I really understand your inclination to protect her - jesus - I have had no fewer than 3 dreams where I'm trying to help her and talk sense into her. Clearly she is a pitiable character. But in no way, shape, or form will I allow anyone but her personal self - and maybe those who are suppose to be her close friends and family - take any kind of blame for the total train wreck she has become. Because that's just unfair.
