7:15 was the race start.
i said hello to
larry macon (right) and his friend (left)
francisco or francesco i think (please correct me if you know)
i ran into many a maniac. quite a few planning on the same next few weekend runs as myself it seems (VA,DC & NJ).
about mile 3 i ran with 2 men for a while - was feeling really good compared to last week. we talked about other races they had run as well as upcoming runs. one slowed down and about mile 6 (?) the other one headed off as i was a bit slower.
the scenery continued to keep me moving & enjoying.
i stopped around mile 8 to use a park port-o-let and the other man passed with a few other people. a woman from tennessee and a man from virginia had the same idea (as the next pit stop was mile 13 or 15?). we ran together for a bit and then i headed off. they passed me during my walk break near mile 11. smile - love her headband (a green hat for st patty's day)
near mile 10 & 11
was truckin along @ the 1/2 way mark - enjoyed the little random speakers with music next to the clock (it was at about 2:23 or so).
at the start there was an announcement about music & headphones - they made it clear they were serious and would disqualify people. it was a small enough race to be quite possible. having begun the road portion (less scenic) the music was a nice distraction for a minute or so.

i was leapfrogging with a few people the rest of the run. one of these was a man in long sleeved black shirt & black leggings with a fluorescent yellow singlet (?) over top. thank you sir for the many little comments that had me smiling :)

mile 22 (?) i caught up the the man from VA again. his wife is very kind and meets him with refills & other goodies. after he stopped to gear up with her help, he caught me again. he was kind enough to listen to me babble the last few miles and finish together.
thinking of you nancy
finished strong
in case you have yet to notice - my awareness of holding the medal in photos is lacking - hence many a sideways medal in the photo
