Sci-Fi Wire Interview with Cliff Curtis

Hey guys! *waves* I was poking around Sci-Fi Wire today, and I came across this interview with Cliff Curtis, the actor playing Fire Lord Ozai. Here it is: http://scifiwire.com/2009/08/last-airbender-villain-lo.php

It does provide us a little information about Fire Lord Ozai's costume. Curtis described it and said:

"It's sort of like a cross between Roman and kind of Greek, [a] gold, Roman and Greek military/samurai military [uniform]."

Ugh. I'm extremely afraid to see that weird hodgepodge of an outfit in action...and what they've done to the rest of the characters costumes, like the Kyoshi Warriors. *shudder* Anyway, aside from that, Curtis says that Star Wars is the biggest inspiration for Shyamalan's vision for this movie. And, not surprisingly, he says that he's never even seen the original animated series, and doesn't seem to be planning on doing so anytime soon. I think that this is probably also the case for Aasif Mandvi, Shaun Toub, and the other adult actors attached to the project. I'm not too sure if they'd be opposed to the casting otherwise, but it seems like they're completely unaware of what the problem's people have with this movie. I wouldn't be surprised if we find out that Jackson Rathbone and Nicola Peltz haven't seen it either. At this point, it seems that Noah Ringer and Dev Patel are the only cast members who have actually seen or are familiar with the TV series. And I know Shyamalan's said he's seen the show and is a fan of it, but judging by his so-called "vision" I'd say that he either wasn't paying attention, or hasn't seen as much of the show as he's led us to believe. Anyway, just more random speculation from me, but this seemed relevant so I thought I'd share it with you guys. ;)
