Jan 27, 2011 05:01

According to Yahoo! Movies, Willow Smith will play Annie in a remake of the movie, along with rapper Jay-Z. Let's see people be forward-thinking now. I mean, Annie doesn't really need to be white. Orphans can be any color ( Read more... )

Why is it that when people say they're speaking their minds (as the user is named speakmymind), it's always something negative?

Because then they can say, "You're censoring me!" when you pull out actual numbers and prove them completely wrong. (See also, "I'm not racist, but...")

Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas is the only child star I know who has done well for herself as an adult and even she had drug problems as a teenager.

There's also Neil Patrick Harris and Natalie Portman. Drew Barrymore eventually got there (while Lindsey Lohan's still kinda drowning in it...)

Yep. And Drew Barrymore had her own spate with drugs, etc.

We'll just have to wait and see if Lohan has redemption in the cards.

I find it rather interesting that the Pinkett-Smith family chose remakes as their kids' star vehicles. The white part was sort of inevitable since I can't even think of a movie centered around a black child, let alone a black girl child...

Precious, but that's too soon to remake (and also icky and depressing).

I do wish the Pinkett-Smith family start choosing original screenplays, because we need more of those.

It's interesting, but sort of understandable, as the industry seems to be obsessed with remakes reboots and sequels more than ever lately. Unfortunately nostalgia factor, coupled with thinly veiled racism create a backlash as soon as the concept is announced.

Yeah the whole Will Smith, Stage Dad aspect makes me hrm but generally I think Jaden and Willow are both talented. This sounds super cute and I think it'll be really good!

Oh man, I'm all over this! I haven't followed her closely but everything I've ever seen of Willow Smith has been full of style and attitude and I just really love that girl. ♥ A movie musical, wait, Annie? HELL YES.

The only thing that I have a problem with is celebrity parents getting their kids in the spotlight. Why can't Willow just be a regular girl? I hope this is what she wants and not from her parents pushing her.
Personally, the Pinkett-Smiths are some of the people I'd have faith in. I mean, I definitely think (and want to believe) that they have a very healthy marriage/family as all outward signs point to yes. I can easily imagine that growing up with successful, famous parents with tons of resources, even as a kid you could really want to join them and take advantage of that.

I don't understand this user's comments
NEVER READ THE COMMENTS No seriously, I know that's what we do, but people in general seem to be the worst and I don't think there's any way to reason with people like that. I'll just be over here supporting ( ... )
