I'll certainly write them a letter. I really enjoyed yours: it was well-constructed, and presented the argument in a format sympathetic to the company. The only thing is...I don't know that all of it would be read. When the first letter-writing campaign began with messages to Paramount &co, I remember being told by someone (who I believe had had some sort of business working at such a place) that really, only about the first paragraph or so of our letters will be read before they're tossed aside. Obviously yours can't be shortened that much, and it would be fabulous if they could read it all. I'm just afraid it's going to come to that. Even so, though, it's worth trying anyways, isn't it? :)
Yeah, it's been my big worry, that's why I'm hoping more people will write shorter letters, as they only need to be one paragraph. If mine doesn't work, then at least the others will have a better shot at, at least, directing them to Racebending.com.
Didn't classes just start? Seems kind of dead around here lol.
I think so. Though I find that odd because I have a Children Writing course where I am writing a children's book, have all these events backed up and I'm promoting a movie I help make...and I still find time here.
My only regret is that I cannot make it on Friday a lot of the time for chat.
I've just started classes recently, so that's why I haven't been around here as much. BUT! I did have an impromptu Racebending talk/debate at a dinner table in the cafeteria. Some were oblivious, others had obviously been following the movement online and were even familiar with the bingo cards. I wrote the website address on a napkin and handed it to them, so I hope we've won a few more over.
Hear, hear. Though it's true that colleges are generally more perseptive to this sort of thing, I think it's a great idea - it would give a wider audience for those not in college. :)
I was focusing on colleges first because I'd think that they were easier. They were supposed to be a start and then my hope is that we could trickle down to other schools as colleges tend to have some relationship with the local lower schools.
I haven't yet tried to figure out the legalities since most schools are run by the government. :-/
Well, I'm writing an anonymous article for my school newspaper about Racebending - I'll post it here when I'm done. I just have to be careful because most kids at my school think Avatar is "stupid". Not only that, but it only has, like, 500 students, so if I published it with my name my mom would find out and I'd get banned from the Internet, lol.
Anyways, I know we have a lot of supporters in middle and high school. Even though most of our more active members are in college, I think if we ask for high schoolers to help out, then we probably won't have to worry about legal issues since it'll be student-driven and not an outside group.
Oh yes, definitely. If any high school, middle school, even elementary school students (I know of one who is rallying his friends together, last I heard) start a group or otherwise spread the word about the issue, that's the easiest way to go. (And we're here as a resource if they want anything; I hope the interviews with the experts can be helpful
( ... )
Even so, though, it's worth trying anyways, isn't it? :)

I've only been trying to move the time of the chat to a time that is better for everyone all summer. Seriously, I am open to any ideas.

We have been focusing on collages so much...why not just schools in general?
