okay, so either everyone has heard of this film, or no one has. either way, i'm in love with it and am going to now share my feelings.
It's called Shelter and you can
watch it here free.
And here's the thing, this movie could be just another gay movie, but it isn't. It's kind of amazing and it gives me feels and it's just really well done. The acting is amazing, the everything is amazing.
Okay, so what is it about? It's this kid, this guy, who is maybe 21 maybe not, hard to tell his age, but he's young, and he works to help out at home and helps raise his nephew after his sister wins fail!parent of the year award. And he starts hanging out/surfing with his best friend's brother who is older (age unknown but it's a 12 year difference between the actors) but he's also kind of really cool (and okay for the purposes of the story he's really convenient and handy but whatever it's fiction and he's cool so there). So they hang out and kind of drunkenly kiss one night and the kidguy freaks out but tries to not and then they hug and it's really amazing and then he actually does freak out but it's okay because this movie is basically every fic in a film. And just, I really don't have enough words.
For as predictable and overused as the plot is, this movie makes it seem new and exciting and fresh and awesome and it's just amazing. I really don't know how to accurately say how much I enjoyed this film.
There's a moment in the movie where they just hug and you guys hugs freakin' get me all the time, but this one especially, like, idek. asdfghjkl.
I found this movie going through the list of afterelton's
top 100 gay movies and it was voted #1, yes, even over Brokeback Mountain. (And I also then proceeded to start making my way through the list and let me tell you, there are some really terrible gay movies out in the world.) After watching it I know why it's number 1. I don't even like calling it a gay movie, because to me it's two guys who just fall into each other, you know?
Seriously, if you have some time to kill, go watch this movie.
