Rec: Blink

So I don't think I've ever recommended an actual book before, mostly because I don't read too many actual books anymore. For shame, I know, but I finally finished a book I've been reading and thought I'd pass it along.

Most of you know I only read non-fiction (published) books, and this one is definitely non-fiction. It's called Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. I'd be a bit surprised if you haven't at least heard of the author (possibly more famous for penning The Tipping Point), but he has videos up on TED talks, which, if you don't know what that is, google it and then watch them all.

No, but seriously, this is a great book. Gladwell talks about making snap judgments. The catch phrase of his book is the power of thinking without thinking and okay, I admit, I thought reading it would help me do better on tests, but I think it might help me do better in life, instead, so that's much more of a win. (Especially since I don't have tests anymore.) He compiles a bunch of great studies and research and talks to a lot of people in various fields about this, and it's well worth the read if you're at all curious about subconscious minds and how they work. He dives a little bit into Autistic minds, too, and how they work, and it was completely interesting, so I'd recommend it just for that.

Go read this book!
