Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Your February Horoscope by Susan Miller
Big financial news is about to come your way, but there's no reason to be jittery. Whenever I have had news for you in the past about money, it has always been news you've not wanted to hear. This time is different, for this new moon solar eclipse should bring some good news for a change.
The solar eclipse is due February 6 and will mark the first of four eclipses of 2008. It will also herald the beginning of a whole new emphasis on your financial affairs. It may help you find ways to come up with new innovative ideas to stabilize your financial situation.
When it came to money, you've had a hard time of it over the past two or three years, dear Cancer, and things that happen later in the month near February 24 will show you that you're still not completely out of the woods. But you ARE on your way out, and that's what matters. Sometimes we have to do things in small steps. Actually, those small changes are often the most lasting ones.
This February 6 eclipse will be the first of a new family of eclipses that are starting up now and that will enliven your financial sectors over the coming two years. Eclipses arrive every six months and come in pairs, always coinciding with a new moon and full moon.
The solar eclipse on February 6 is a new moon, and new moons open doors, suggesting the possible start of a new approach you'll take to money or a different source of income. There will be a full moon eclipse later that we will talk about, due February 20, signifying an ending of sorts.
Eclipses aren't fatalistic events - they are testing points. If an eclipse determines that that a source of income you have or a habit of saving or spending is not adequate, or is detrimental or not secure, the eclipse will create a bit of havoc so that you will pay more attention to this area of your life and fix it.
This eclipse will arrive in your 8th house of other people's money at 17 degrees Aquarius and could suddenly trigger a lovely windfall. Neptune will be close to the Sun and in perfect angle to Mars at the time, so the money could stem from an artistic enterprise that you've been involved in over past months.
Uranus is also linked to the high-tech industry, too. You may have invented hardware or software that will bring you a tidy sum by an investor. Good luck on that if that's how things work out.
Since Uranus rules Aquarius and is in what is called "mutual reception" with Neptune (meaning the two are working together in a very close and supportive way), I feel you may also see a big financial benefit from this eclipse.
Uranus is now touring your 8th house, so a foreign person may be very instrumental to your luck. You may need to travel abroad for a face-to-face (or the person may be based somewhere in your country), and if so, the trip should go well.
Mercury is retrograde - something I will discuss later - so you can expect changes but those aren't problematic, just a little annoying. The most important point to remember with Mercury retrograde is that you must avoid signing contracts or any important papers. You can't give your word verbally yet either. Keep your options open, because no matter how sure you may feel that you know the whole story, you don't. Your life is in flux now, so be patient as more and more is revealed this month.
Another area of luck will be within the publishing and broadcasting industry. If you are a writer, editor, or proofreader, you could see a lucrative new client walk in the door. If you are an actor, you could get a special role doing voiceovers, perhaps for a commercial or an animated film. The new opportunities you see sprouting up now could stay in your life for quite a while too, so tend those relationships tenderly.
When it comes to money, as said earlier, you will be a money magnet. If you hoped to raise venture capital or be approved for a bank loan, or see income from a commission, royalty, or licensing fee, it should come though now. You may alternatively be granted a mortgage, refinancing plan, or college scholarship. You will be favored now, so be sure to fill out those forms.
It's also possible you will discover that a long lost relative or even a kind neighbor or other person you don't know well but whom you helped once in a way that made a big impression will leave money for you in his or her will.
If you are splitting up funds at the end of a marriage, you should do well and be satisfied with the way talks go. If your ex-spouse owes you child support or other money, something may occur near February 6 that will finally allow you to obtain payment.
The events of this solar eclipse may cause you to reorganize your financials from top to bottom, too. A good time to do so would be from February 6 to 18. Call your cell phone and Internet provider, your credit card company, and others to see if you can negotiate a better deal. Ask your broker to review your retirement account to ensure that your investments are sound and that no changes would be warranted. If changes are recommended, take care of those now.
Don't fall for any get rich quick scheme this month. It may be cleverly veiled, so at first you may think the idea is a good one, but on closer inspection see that it's not. You want to stay with tried and true concepts now and work with people you know are solid. Check references so that you know people are who they say they are.
I want you to buy a charity raffle ticket or a scratch-off lotto ticket. Don't spend too much money - just a few dollars - and do it for fun. The last thing I want you to do is go overboard by spending too much!! You are lucky however, so buy one or two. A scratch-off ticket will allow you to choose the date of the "award" - the date you scratch it off - and that is why I say buy that type of ticket. Buy it on or just after February 6.
You might also want to go on a TV game show to try your luck. With the Hollywood writers' strike on, the number of game shows have proliferated. See if you can qualify as a contestant.
I have watched those shows like "Deal or No Deal." People start doing well and then get greedy and figure they will win more money so they keep taking more risks. They wind up leaving with little or nothing. Be happy with less and leave some money on the table if necessary. You don't want to press your luck, just GET some luck!
Every aspect has its flip side, so I should mention that with Mercury moving retrograde until February 17, checks from others that you need may be late. Knowing this, you may want to send a reminder the moment the month begins. As they say, "The squeaky wheel gets the juice!"
Be careful too that you are not a victim of identity theft - this is one month you should have a look at your credit rating. You need to be sure no unsavory person has negatively used your credit card number without your knowledge.
You may need to travel suddenly this month, especially for business, either near February 6 or 20. With Mercury retrograde from the start of the month until February 17, it would be wise to call ahead to find out if there are any transportation delays. Bring your iPod, a newspaper, and a book with you to keep you occupied if delays pile up despite your best efforts. Be sure you have any necessary paperwork with you, such as a passport, tickets, and so forth when you leave the house.
It will be easy to become scattered and forgetful in February. Label all your portable electronics. Your cell phone, BlackBerry, or iPod should have your name on its back if you misplace one of them. Hopefully, you will not lose anything because you will need those electronics more than ever now!
Your career should show a magical upturn in February, thanks to the move of Mars from retrograde to direct motion as February begins. If you have interviewed for a new position but have been frustrated by how hard it's been to find out if you're still in the running, you should find answers more forthcoming. Mars moved direct on January 30, so you'll appreciate the quicker pace you see in all career matters from now on.
Mercury will be retrograde until February 18, so interview but do not commit to any new job until early March if possible. With eclipses and Mercury retrograde in February, this is a messy month for making final commitments.
Eclipses always come in pairs, and this month, the second one will arrive in the form of a lunar full moon eclipse in Virgo at 2 degrees on February 20. This will be the last of a series of eclipses that have been arriving in Virgo and Pisces over the past two years. This last one seems to be strong, however, because it will align closely to Saturn, the taskmaster planet that teaches the value of taking on responsibilities and living up to obligations.
Whatever occurs at the lunar eclipse on February 20 will likely be a somber and sobering moment. You seem to be ready to sign papers but I would not recommend doing so. With Saturn so very close to the moon, your ruler, you may agree to a burdensome circumstance that you may regret for the length of time the agreement is in force.
You may alternatively wish you could get out of an old obligation when it comes time to live up to a promise you made some time ago. Alas, this is an eclipse, so I am sorry to say that does not seem likely.
A sister or brother may draw your attention and need help near February 20. You may be concerned enough to take a trip to be with your sibling in person. That's probably a good idea if something does come up. Keep your schedule light.
This eclipse on February 20, as said, will be in Virgo, a sign that blends well with yours. This tells me that you would be able to find solutions to whatever comes up, even if you are initially thrown by events.
If your birthday falls on or near June 23, plus or minus five days, you will see benefits or solutions at the time of this full moon eclipse.
A few days later, on February 24, the Sun will oppose Saturn, which will be another oppressive aspect. The mood at month's end will be "keep it real." Although you won't be at all in the mood to be objective and practical - you will more likely want to react emotionally (and it will be hard not to) - there will be reasons that you must stay on point and focused. Perhaps others will be depending on you to keep your wits about you. You can rise to the occasion. My bet is that you will, for love will provide the strength you need.
In your solar chart, the Sun rules your income and possessions, so at the same time all this is going on, you will have to make a big payment to a credit card company near or on February 24. Holiday bills have arrived, and life may look stark on this day. Realize that this entire mood is only temporary. This could be a low point in the year, but after this you will bounce back and things should improve.
You must get enough rest leading up to late February for if you don't, you will find events to be overwhelming. The Greek philosophers were right when they professed the need for a "strong mind, strong body." Being rested and in good health will allow you to cope with events more effectively.
While money and relatives may concern you in February, there is one very bright part of the month, and it concerns your love life. One of your most spectacular days of the month, and possibly a sparkling moment of the whole year, will occur on February 1, a day that will be made in heaven for Cancer.
On February 1, Venus and Jupiter will have their annual meeting, a day that spreads joy wide and far to each of us. This year they have chosen to embrace in your house of marriage and commitment. Valentine's Day may come early for you for if either you or your partner proposes. It all looks very exciting!
If your birthday falls on July 1, you will be singled out by this divine conjunction of two very loving planets. Make this day special, for it deserves to be celebrated.
If you are not dating anyone special, plan to be out circulating on February 6, when Venus and Uranus will cook up lots of fun, romantic surprises. You may meet someone very different from you - perhaps not your usual type - but feel the spark of chemistry nevertheless, and you may even feel swept off your feet.
Valentine's Day, February 14, should be special, too. The Sun and Mars will be beautifully angled, adding a sexy, warm, and intimate glow to the day for lovers. Mars is, after all, all about passion.
If you want to travel with your sweetheart or spouse, you may choose to do so over the weekend of February 9-10, with the moon in Pisces. The following weekend also rates a star: February 16-17.
Summing up your most romantic evenings this month, keep an eye on February 1, 6, 8, 14, and 16-17.
Summary
February will be a bubbling pot that will bring on many developments, some in a quite unexpected way. The best part of the month - and of your life - will have to do with your close relationship. The most obvious way this may work out is that you may get engaged for Valentine's Day. Mars will do his best to reach out to Neptune on February 14 to bring you magical developments. This would be a sensational year to become engaged and wed, so your timing could not be better.
There is a day coming earlier in the month that will be even more spectacular for developments in your love life: Friday, February 1. This could be the most romantic day of the year for Cancers who are dating, attached, or living with someone. On that day, Venus will conjoin fortunate Jupiter in your house of marriage, a once in 12-year occurrence! This day, February 1, will surely be a wow of a day - put a gold star on it and plan to go out. If you are already married or committed to one another, you will still benefit from your partner in a substantial way.
There will be a powerful emphasis on your finances this month too, due to a plethora of planets crowding in Aquarius. The solar eclipse that is due on February 6 will kick off this trend. It looks like money is going to find its way to you, though it's not likely it would be money earned, but rather money arriving in one large chunk. This could be money you earn on a game show on TV, or money your aunt Harriet leaves you in a will. It could be money your college gives you as financial aid or scholarship toward tuition, or a really good mortgage you get approved for at the bank. This time of the month - the first half - really does brim with good financial news.
If anyone owes you money, or if you have tried to settle a dispute involving money, you will likely make lots of progress just after this eclipse appears. Still, discussions involving money, although helped by the eclipse, may not be all that easy to untangle. The Sun and Neptune will orbit in close proximity, indicating that some of the financials you need to study will be obscured, especially near February 10.
Ask questions, particularly if the matter at hand involves the past or future sharing of funds with someone else.
In your career, you've been in a holding pattern ever since Mars turned retrograde on November 15. Mars governs your professional sector, so you need a strong Mars to make progress. Happily, Mars has since turned direct on January 30, so at the start of the month watch closely - you may see immediate signs that professionally things are about to perk up in a big way.
Get past the lunar eclipse, February 21, before you make any major decisions. This eclipse may trigger a quick trip, possibly to complete some sort of family business or to visit a sibling. On the other hand, you may be asked to sign an agreement or contract at this time. Again I will ask you to wait to do so in early March. Spend the time conferring with your lawyer. This month, legal advice would be worth its weight in gold.
You may be forming a business partnership, or are about to hire an agent, publicist, or other expert to help you get ahead. Mars' stronger orbit will help you find the right person and ensure that you generate a generous profit by working together. However, with Mercury retrograde, conditions are still changing day by day - it's not the time to make a final decision about how to proceed. Be patient until you get to March. The right contract will materialize by then.

I hope she's right.
