Time to ¨Actualizar diario¨ ....
My time in South America is quickly coming to an end... just checked in for my flights at 11:55pm Sunday tonight, still no upgrades, but I ll remain hopeful cuz I do see space.
The last 7 weeks here have been absolutely amazing, and when we came to the Pacific, it finally felt like a sense of accomplishment, crossing the whole continent overland from East to West.
Although South America definetly lacks the hospitality of the Middle East, the excitement of SE Asia and the cultural jewels of Europe, it still is very captivating. I would love to come back one day and finish off exploring the continent. Its been really so diverse the last 7 weeks, from Brazil through the unexpolred places like Paraguay and northern Argentina to the gringo circuit of Bolivia and Peru (handicrafts anyone! fuckin hell).
Even though the group of people I travelled with was not the greatest, being on a truck for 8500km with the same 8 people for 7 weeks is bound to get to you. I m still plannin to keep in touch, it was an experience that we did share, and only we´ll be able to understand.
Right now it all really blends into one, and just scrolling through the 520 pictrues (really low isnt it?) brings back memories that seem ages away even tho they happened just a few weeks ago.
Also, the last three days in Lima that I have been on my own, have been enlightening to me as to how much Spanish I actually picked up. From almost zero to being able to confidently get by in 6 or so weeks, I even surprised myself.
One last thing that was part of the tour yesterday (Saturday) was the excursion to the dodgy part of Lima to see a frog being blendered and drinking the supposedly revitalizing frog/quinua juice...
Chop that one up to eating the guinea pig in once in a lifetime experiences.
Really glad also I got to meet up with Elly last night and catch up. Made for a perfect last night in S America.
Any ideas how to get out of this travel bug? Where to next?
Anyway, its really late/early...should go catch up on missed nights sleep...
adios!
