a/n: I was thinking about Christmas and presents and what‘s important to me in it. And this idea just popped in to my head and thought abut my favourite pairing. That‘s when I really needed to write this. Characters might be a little out of character, but then again, I think this fic is nothing more than a fluffy Christmas fic, so…

And with this fic, I want to wish you all Merry Christmas!

Kanda was walking towards his room with irritation written on his face and looking as pissed off as possible. Somehow Lenalee had managed to drag him to the Black Order’s Christmas party. There had been people and hugging, singing and laughing, too much social situations and forced smiles. When Lavi had approached him with a mistletoe attached over his head, he had escaped- no, correct, he had smoothly left the place.

He was irritated because he knew that everyone were well aware of the fact that he didn’t like events that involved people. Because he didn’t like people. And not too many in the Black Order liked him, if you were specific. Of course he was acknowledged and respected as an Exorcist but he had made sure that people didn’t try and befriend him.

He cursed his so called friends who always tried to get him attend everything.

Sighing Kanda was relieved to see his door. He had taken a longer route so that he would mislead and lose everyone who tried to follow him. He shut the door behind him and looked his dark and somewhat cold room. He breathed heavily and put down Mugen. Lenalee had tried to get him go without it but he had refused to leave his sword behind: if he was forced to go to a party, he wouldn’t do it without having his sword there to threaten people who got too close.

He took off his Exorcist jacket (he had refused to go the party without it, either) and put in on the chair opening his hair at the same time. He was wearing just his black clothes and felt much more comfortable. When he reached his lamp and put on the light, he sensed that there was something wrong. He turned around fast and was ready to grab Mugen from the wall near the door. His movements stopped when he saw the redheaded intruder.

“What do you think you’re doing here, Lavi?” he questioned angrily.

Lavi smiled widely. “Well, you left rather quickly, you didn’t even give me the chance to give you your present”, he answered friendly. He was lying on the bed with a big ribbon on his chest. He also had the mistletoe over his head that had caused Kanda to leave the party in the first place.

“Che, I don’t need presents, I already have everything I need. Nor do I want presents”, Kanda said with a cold tone. He hated when people were too friendly and familiar with him, it made him feel uncomfortable and uneasy. It annoyed the hell out of him that Lavi didn’t leave him alone and quit teasing him.

“Um, that’s not entirely true, Yuu-chan”, Lavi corrected him. He made no move to leave the bed but he did got up and sat on the bed. Reaching his pocket he started to dig it.

Kanda rolled his eyes. “What are you talking about, baka usagi?” he nearly shouted. He was already shaking with anger. Half of the time, Lavi made no sense what so ever. “Just, never mind. Leave.”

“Ah, found it!” Lavi announced happily. His eye was smiling as he opened a small paper that had been attached back together after being torn apart.

Kanda looked confused. “Go bother someone else, Lavi, I’m really not in the mood. Mugen can show you the way”, he added with a threat.

“Dear Santa”, Lavi started quickly before Kanda had the time get his hands on Mugen. His words also made Kanda to actually look at him. “I know you must be really busy but I haven’t asked for anything before and I promise to not ask anything if you grant me this wish.”

Kanda’s expression turned from angry to rage. He didn’t even remember how many years it had been since he had written the letter. He had been a child, a stupid and naïve child, who still had had some kind of belief in comforting and innocent things. He had also been a child when he had torn the letter apart and destroyed it. How had Lavi managed to his hands to it?

“As a Christmas present I’d want someone to be with me. Someone who makes me smile even if I wasn’t in the mood, who’d be there for me even when I didn’t ask for it, who tries to sheer me up when I seem like I don’t want it; someone who’s with me even though I’m not the easiest person and someone who won’t leave me”, Lavi continued reading. At first he had looked the texts written on the letter but after a few words he had lifted his eyes and looked directly at Kanda. “I realise that it’s a lot to ask but you can consider it as an eternal present for me. And I know I might not deserve it but I’ve been trying my best to be worth it. Best wishes, Yu”, he finished.

“Get out”, Kanda said and tried to not sound so hurt.

“C’mon, Yuu-chan, don’t be like that!” Lavi said with annoying voice and stupid look on his face. He was so used to act in front of everyone, he was so used to be this annoying and joking bastard who Kanda hated, that he didn’t know when to drop the act. “I’m sorry it took me awhile. But it’s better late than never, ne?” he asked with a more serious tone in his voice.

Kanda snorted. “What the heck are you talking about?” He hadn’t even noticed that he had gotten closer to the bed. Closer to Lavi.

Lavi spread his arms and smiled. “Merry Christmas, Yu.” He hadn’t expected Kanda to run over him and hug him to the death. He hadn’t even expected Kanda to come to him, regardless his gesture, but he had expected to break the ice on Kanda’s face.

“As I said before, I don’t need or want any presents”, Kanda repeated steadily. Everything in his being said that he meant it. Except his eyes. His normally cold and black eyes had some kind of shimmer in them.

“You know, that was cute at first, you being this anti-social and uptight person who doesn’t give a damn about anyone else”, Lavi said abruptly, dropping the act. He stood up from the bed and walked towards Kanda. “After awhile it really started to annoy that you couldn’t see all the good around you nor did you give anyone a chance to be beside you.” He stopped right in front of Kanda and looked him straight to his eyes. He was sure that Kanda would back off or make him regret his birth by stepping in to his personal space. But Kanda didn’t do anything. “And then I started seeing these glimpses of the real you. The real Kanda Yu, who does care about his comrades and is willing to die for them, who defends his and his friends’ honour, who everyone can trust.”

The situation hadn’t really gone the way Lavi had planned. He had to admit to himself that there had been a little chance that things would go well when he tried to offer himself as a gift to Kanda, confessing his feelings to Kanda, but he’d hoped for the best.

Kanda, on the other hand, was feeling multiple feelings at the same time. He was angry that Lavi thought he could just come over and say things like that about him and criticize him. He was furious that Lavi had found his forgotten and buried letter that was still telling the truth but what he didn’t want to admit even to himself. He was mad to himself for feeling this weak and letting Lavi’s words affect him greatly.

Yet, he had this warm and fuzzy feeling inside him. And it had increased as Lavi moved closer to him, when Lavi didn’t back off and leave.

“I tell jokes and tease you to make you smile, I don’t leave you when you tell me to fuck off and I’m not letting you go even though you put up a good fight and try to get away”, Lavi dared to say after a long moment of silence. He knew that there was a chance that he had misinterpreted everything but what could Kanda do? He already hated him, so that wouldn’t be anything new. “And as I just demonstrated: no, you’re not the easiest person and I don’t want you to be.”

For the first time in his life, Kanda didn’t know what to say.

“And if you accept this present, I will continue doing so. You wrote that it could be an eternal present, right? Well, I’m ready to give it to you”, Lavi said, his voice softening. He sounded confident and sure. And that he was.

For the first time Lavi had seen Kanda, he had been attracted to him. Kanda had a personality that intrigued him and he was fun to play with. He enjoyed the swordsman’s company and knew all the right strings to pull to get some kind of response. And he had seen that even though Kanda told him to leave him and to annoy someone else, he didn’t really mean it. Because if Kanda really wanted him to leave him alone, he would.

Over the years he had gained the ability to read people and as a Bookman he knew how to separate the truth from a lie. And he knew that Kanda didn’t really hate him. He hated him out of habit, out of annoyance. But he didn’t really hate him, that’s what his intuition said.

Kanda had never practised his people skills. That’s why, when something out of the ordinary happened, when something messed up his comfortable world, he didn’t exactly know how to act properly.

Lavi’s face was already so close to his and he could practically breathe Lavi’s breathing… Something just snapped inside him and yes, he did want Lavi, he needed him and he didn’t know how to express himself. So he did what was familiar to him: he attacked him.

Well, not attacked as in sliced the redhead with Mugen but attacked as in grabbed Lavi from his neck and pressed their lips together. Needless to say, it was Kanda’s first kiss. And it was terrible: there were tooth and spit and it was messy and not nearly as good as they wrote in novels.

For a moment Lavi struggled and waved his hands out of surprise. Then he realized what was actually happening and let Kanda do it his way. He wasn’t one to judge but damn he was going to enjoy teaching Kanda how to kiss. And a lot more.

When Kanda was running out of air he let go of Lavi and took one step backward. He looked at the redhead in front of him and was mentally cursing himself for kissing Lavi. “Baka usagi”, he muttered under his breath.

Lavi laughed. “That’s something only you can say in this situation”, he smiled and shook his head.

Kanda didn’t know why Lavi laughed or why he was amused but he didn’t have time to think about it. Lavi had again closed the distance between them and pressed his lips gently to his. Lavi put his warm hand on Kanda’s cheek to keep him still and started slowly to kiss him. He covered the swordsman’s lips under his and licked them, pushing his tongue through the already parted lips. There was a slight fight over the dominance between their tongues but, not knowing exactly what he was doing and eager to learn (not that he would admit it to Lavi), Kanda decided to let Lavi run the show.

As Lavi did something new and Kanda followed him and little by little he understood the name of the game, the kiss got deeper and longer. At some point Kanda noticed that he wasn’t gasping for air nor was he having troubles with breathing. Suddenly the kissing went a lot better than the first one. But he wouldn’t give Lavi the credit for it, not in a million years.

Soon Lavi realized that he would never get tired of kissing Kanda but his lips would. They were swollen and red and if he continued anymore both of their lips would be sore the next day.

Lavi pressed his lips one last time on Kanda’s lips and gave him an open-mouthed kiss. “Now that was a lot better”, he commented. His hands was still on Kanda’s cheek and he found his other hand lying on Kand’s hips, keeping their bodies together.

Kanda’s eyebrow twitched. “And what was that supposed to mean?” he asked and threw Lavi’s hand away from his cheek. But he decided to leave the hand resting on his hips alone.

“That you really aren’t the easiest person to deal with”, Lavi sighed and rubbed his red hair.

“You were warned”, Kanda pointed out.

A wide smile appeared on Lavi’s face. “My, Yuu-chan, was that a joke?” he asked teasingly.

Kanda pushed Lavi away from him. “I hate you”, he announced and left the room. He didn’t exactly know where he was supposed to go because he had just left his own room. After circling in front of his door, he cursed loudly and returned to his room. “I still hate you”, he reminded Lavi who looked curiously at him.

Lavi grinned.
