Where has the time gone?

Oh goodness, I keep meaning to update more frequently but time seems to be getting away from me. And I also feel bad because I've hardly been commenting on anyone's posts lately either. I've been super busy lately; school started two weeks ago and before that I was finishing up the papers due from my summer study abroad classes and getting ready to move into my apartment for the school year. Because I am an ADULT now and I live in an apartment and pay bills and cook for myself and deal with the fact that we have a cockroach infestation. ಠ_ಠ

The exterminators came about a week and a half ago and it's finally starting to look like the bugs are going away; I'm down to killing about 1-2 per week instead of 5-6 per night. And fortunately it was small roaches and not the big fat ones, otherwise I would have immediately found someplace else to live because NOPE I am not here for that. Even so, it was a pretty rough first week.

But other than that, I've been loving my classes so far. Two of my professors were the same ones I had for my study abroad trip, and since they're two classes directly relevant to my major it definitely helps to already have a friendly relationship. And my Spanish teacher is absolutely hilarious; she's easily excitable and would rather talk about school and our personal lives instead of following the book. So I've been practicing my conversational Spanish a lot more as a result, and slowly remembering everything I forgot over the summer (which was a lot, lmao). And then I have accounting...at 8 in the morning on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and that one's been a big struggle. It's hard enough to get up for an 8am class, and then accounting is far from the most exciting class. But my professor has a very dry and sarcastic sense of humor (which I love, haha) so it's not too bad.

And now that I'm finally getting into the swing of classes I can focus on this weekend: Dragon*Con!!! It's my third year going but my first year dressing up, and I am SUPER EXCITED. I'm going as Luke Skywalker one day (RotJ version; I made my costume myself!) and a female version of the Ninth Doctor another day. I finished my Luke costume shortly before coming to school, and here's a (not very good) picture. Once I get all dolled up for the con I'll make my parents take a better picture of me with my lightsaber. I'm SO SO EXCITED.

And I'm also excited about getting to meet all the guests that are going to be there, especially Gillian Anderson and John Barrowman. I mean, Dana Scully is one of my heroes (and second only to Luke Skywalker when it comes to my favorite fictional characters) so I might faint with excitement when I get to meet Gillian. And then Barrowman is, of course, Barrowman. Patrick Stewart was supposed to be coming as well, but he cancelled (which is a bummer because if I'd gotten his autograph I'd have met the entirety of the TNG crew). But it's still going to be fun because a lot of the TNG crew is coming back again and they always have hilarious Q&A panels, so I'm looking forward to another awesome con.

I was hoping Mark Hamill was going to come (my logic being that since CVI was this past weekend (AND I COULDN'T GO SOB) then he could stay in the southeast another week and visit us in Atlanta (and I may have tweeted him several times begging him to come /the worst kind of fangirl)) but alas, it was not to be. Perhaps next year.

So yeah, I think that's about it. Oh, and I have (finally) created a separate journal for my graphics! I always feel guilty posting all my icon posts here instead of personal posts, especially since I'm trying to use this more as a personal journal, and since I'm getting ready to join theiconquest (and would therefore be posting graphics more)(assuming I stay active but shh let's assume I will) I finally created a separate place for my graphics:

skywalkericons skywalkericons skywalkericons

I got it all set up today; originally I was just going to transfer over each individual post from here but a) realized that was more work than I was interested in doing and b) realized that even though I was backdating everything it was still showing up on my friendslist in one giant clump of new posts. So I consolidated everything into four posts and just linked over to this journal. And there we go! Hopefully this will encourage me to post more often on here instead of hiding behind icon posts.
