Insomnia and xmas plans

Dec 21, 2008 04:40

Time for my half-yearly post.

I am suffering from insomnia. It is circa 4:30 am, and at circa 7:30am we will catch a shuttle bus to the Toronto airport. From there we fly to see the in-laws in Tulsa. The weather there should be an improvement. There has been lots of big snow the last few days, and my arms are sore from shoveling...not that I am in great shape, so that represents not more than two or three hours of shoveling.

I am a bit apprehensive about leaving our house for the eight or so days we will be gone. What if someone breaks in and steals all my socks? Or my identity? Or it burns down because snow weasels have moved under the porch and chew on electrical wiring to assuage their hunger pains? Well, at least one of our neighbors will be keeping an eye on the house. We must get him some sort of gift for when we return.

I still have to finish a paper and prep for my stats course next semester, so the visit will contain work, but it should still be relaxing. We will be in a city with decent restaurants (shocking that I would ever say that about Tulsa, but compared to St. Kitty or even Toronto, it does). And I can see my in-laws, who are generally interesting people. There will even be little creatures who will ask all sorts of questions and being cute as only little creatures can be.

I wish all the creatures on my friends list a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year.
