I struggle to find content to post here and/or how to write to get it out, so to speak. So I've decided to blog primarily about beauty/health related things for now until I get back into the swing of things!
After checking out Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Oil Controlling Towelettes, and being dismayed they cost $5-6 for 20 small wipes, I decided to try to make my own. It's very similar to the DIY baby wipes that seem to be popular on the internets, here's how I did it!
What you need:
- Paper cloths (Get quality, don't skimp here or you'll have flimsy and/or poorly textured wipes. You can use paper towels cut in half, or something like I went with, Viva On the Go napkins due to size - 8" x 10", laziness, and a $.50 off coupon. Next time I will use a roll of towels to save money.)
- Witch Hazel
- Aloe Juice
- Container (old baby wipes tub, rubbermaid, something that will hold in moisture)
- Measuring cup & stirring utensil
Step by step:
- Cut paper towel roll in half OR remove pre-sized napkins from box and manhandle/place into your container of choice. I only used about 30 napkins in this batch. If you use the roll, place halved roll cut side down.
- In a measuring cup, mix 2 parts Witch Hazel to 1 part Aloe Juice. I ended up using 10 oz Witch Hazel, 5 oz Aloe Juice. Next time I may try adding a few drops of tea tree oil. Stir.
- Evenly pour mixture over your paper till you get your desired level of moisture.
- If you used a paper towel roll, you can now remove the cardboard tube and start your wipes from the center of the roll. Close container.
- ENJOY!
