You have kanarek to thank, actually, for coming up with the idea. I hadn't ever considered the angle because of course in my mind Neal was going to be just fine, so I wasn't angsting as much as she apparently was, LOL.

Okay, maybe not the best choice of words, but, well...

THIS is so damn brilliant, like the rest of the story. Neal making sure everything is taken care of, just in case - d'awwwwwwwww. I think the part that made me cry the most was when Neal told El that he made her his proxy. Peter really wouldn't be able to do it, that was one of the things I was thinking about the other day, awwww.

I'll tell you, this story just kept revealing itself to me in tiny bits. All I really wanted was the porn, but then I started getting into the headspace of someone in the same position, and all of the things he would want to take care of, and well, yeah. That proxy bit is my fave too, and almost didn't get written, but I needed one more section for "yesterday" and there it was in my brain.

Yay! More of this story! I got so excited when I saw your post, and it absolutely delivered on all my expectations. Mozzie and Regina talking about Neal as a kid - Peter and El taking care of Neal - Neal trying to get things done and then telling himself to calm down (that one made me go awwwwwww).

I just might write more. I was going to include a section on the days after the surgery, and then when Neal gets home, but thought this particular bit worked better as a pre-surgery tale alone.
