21 First Lines

The last twenty-one first lines I wrote in fanfic. If you want to ask me about any of these, I'll talk about how I came up with it/why I wrote it that way, if I remember, or a factoid about writing the story.

Maybe you are driven by auditory clues? Who knows, first lines are things made to grab the reader, but I also think they are made to grab the writer to begin. If you find that elusive first line then you can write the rest of the story, right?

Sounds about right. I think what it shows is that I normally start a story in the midst of the action without a lot of expository build-up. It's like my brain works like a television show or something.

Seriously? My all-time fave is and always will be "Nealz." Whenever I see this, I make ridiculous squealy sounds in the back of my throat and flail gleefully. Because it means there's some Henri fic to indulge in! \o/

Oh, and btw re: 13 and 18? Isn't the answer obvious? The damn phone does ring more than once in life, ya know? ;P It's what phones do! LOL!

LOL. I have also noticed I begin a lot of my dialogue fics with these sound FX.
