...

An amalgamation of metal, industrial, noise and new wave musics, The Cryptic Yeast lives up to its slogan of being ‘‘ugly music from an ugly place.’’ Comprised of George Moore and Rob Fiasco, the band’s music is a mix of guitar riffs, electronic drum beats and samples - all brought together into one monotonous, carnal groove.

Together since 2006, The Cryptic Yeast has until now been more of a studio project. In addition to releasing music through its MySpace, the band will soon have an EP of music released by Full Rabbit Records. Like The Ground, the gig this Friday at Mojo’s will be the band’s debut.

On Sunday, the 2007 Local Music Showcase will conclude with the second annual Chautauqua County Music Awards and Hall of Fame. Scheduled for 6 p.m. at The Crown Theater on East Third Street in Jamestown, the event honors the many bands and artists keeping Jamestown’s music scene alive. In addition into an induction into the Hall of Fame, the event will feature awards in such categories as ‘‘New Band of the Year,’’ ‘‘Local Recording of the Year’’ and ‘‘Hardest Gigging Band of the Year.’’

yeah, we rock.
