my visit to the dentist yesterday was a revelation. i was taught how to floss properly. i mean i knew about the back and forth between the teeth bit...and to kinda go up one side and down the other. but no one had ever told me to pull the floss to the sides and get under the gum line. NOW i have the proper technique...of course it takes me twice as long to floss my teeth, but now i know i am doing it properly. i was also told to stop brushing my teeth so hard. i kinda knew i was doing this, i switched to a soft bristle toothbrush about a year ago, and am using that pronamel toothpaste, but apparently i need to be more careful even so. so more flossing, less brushing! i like my new dentist. the bad news is that the filling that came out on my last day at home, can't really be replaced, well it can, but it'll probably come out again, and the tooth might crack cause its right on the outside of the chewing surface, so i need a crown. that'll set me back about $800, thank goodness i am working! the other bad news is that the fillings i had replaced by the last dentist that i HATED...some of them are leaking...yeah...i need to have them replaced again. however THIS dentist listened to my concerns and basically he is going to do one at a time and get that one right before he starts the next one. i do not want to spend another 8 months in pain when my teeth meet any surface (i couldn't chew LETTUCE before without pain!). so anyway, i have to go back on monday for the crown, and then i'll have another visit after that (i think they take the impression and fit a temp first and then you go back for the real thing). i LOVE my new work schedule since it means i can schedule appointments for the afternoon and don't have to take any time off!
i have found though since starting the new schedule that it is STILL harder for me to work out after work...i just don't have that oomph that i have first thing in the morning. not to mention it is much easier to come home and sit down for 5 minutes, which turns into and hour...
so i think tomorrow i am going to get up early, about quarter to five (i don't want to see that written down as numbers it'll scare me) and work out then, before work. then i can come home and relax and not worry about it. since i will be ramping up the workouts next week and adding in 3 weekly runs, i am planning on doing my p90x in the morning, then going running after work. we'll see how that goes...cause after 4 weeks of that i'll be doing INSANITY in the evenings and p90x in the mornings (instead of p90x doubles...its something people have posted about on the facebook page and it sounds good to me!). i want to go to the running store in pasadena (can't remember what its called, quite possibly "the running store" lol.) they assess your stride and gait and assist you into proper running shoes. i want to get something that'll help with the whole IT band syndrome thing, i also want a pair of trail running shoes, i figure they'll give me more traction when i go hiking, and i do quite often run/walk those hiking trails so it can only help! i think i shall check out the running track at glendale high school, you can use it out of school hours, and it might be easier on me to run there instead of on the roads, plus no stopping for traffic! i think i am going to ask kimberly (who lives upstairs) if she wants to come with me, if i hear her tonight i'll pop up and say hi...but i am so exhausted that i am more likely to put that off and go to bed early!
and YES i voted!
