Bat Out Of Hell

I'm walking down a dark desolate road at night when from out of the creeping fog I see an image of myself walking toward me from the opposite direction. She tells me to turn around and go back, but I am in a hurry to reach my destination and I press forward. I pass myself again and again in rapid succession. Each duplicate of myself warns me to turn around but I do not. Suddenly, I find myself caught like an insect in a mesh circle. I turn my head and a large fruit bat gives me a toothy grin. He begins to move closer. I watch with mounting terror as his feet move across the mesh wire toward my head. I turn my head away and try to wiggle away from him, but there is another hungry bat on my other side. Instantly they are upon me and I can feel their fangs sink deep into my neck. The sound of my rushing blood as it is drained from my body fills my ears. I try to wrench my hand to pull one of the bats from my neck. My fingers clasp his round warm belly and I begin to pull, but his hold on me is too deep and I feel as though if I continue to pull I will remove the bat along with a good portion of my neck. In the midst of heightened panic, I squeeze the bat and feel the blood rush from his belly out through his mouth and back into my neck. I wonder if the all the blood I have forced back into myself is entirely my own or if there were remnants of the previous victim's blood swimming around in that fat little belly along with my own.
