Pottery Class*

*(not to be confused with Potter class. Although that makes me chuckle).

Most importantly, SWEET JESUS I AM NOT A NATURAL AT POTTERY. You know you sit down at the pottery wheel, have a hunk of clay in your hands and in the back of your mind you have this little dream where you will turn the wheel on, throw the clay down and BE THE MOST AMAZING PERSON EVER? That beautiful pots and mugs and little bowls will flow from you hands like magic, to the amazement and jealousy of all those around you (I seriously hope I am not the only one that has this dream every time I try something new).

right, so that is not what happened. What happened was instead frustrating and sad, but did have something to do with the fact that the wheel was going to wrong way to begin with because it is crazy, and I didn't notice because sometimes I get delusional and think I am left-handed (I once (true story!) was serving really badly in volleyball. And I couldn't work out what was wrong, until the guy next to me asked me "Rabbit.. (that wasn't what he said, but if this was a livejournal volleyball game it probably would be) Rabbit, are you left handed?" and I realized I was serving with my left-hand! And I keep trying to open bottles and jars left-handed, even though it continues to NOT WORK.)

But by the end of the three hours I seemed to be getting better, so I am trying not to give up hope like when I attempted to learn cello (piano? no problem! cello? Can not play in tune.) Scratch that, I'm not giving up hope because I am aware in the practical sense-making part of my brain (shuttup everyone, I do have this. and you know it! So no cheap jokes.) that people are seldom just naturally brilliant at things and need to work and practice at them. But part of me continues to clamour, "Hey! That didn't work. Time to try something else on the list of things you might be naturally gifted at!".

If only it were like crochet, where when I first attempted it I fortuitously (huh, which is not spelled fortuitively. good to know) stumbled upon a stitch that I not only loved, but that I was AWESOME at and didn't discover the tricky bits until later. (this is a good system for me).

Also I want to create free form poetry to the red stapler and its prison at the top of the sky, but really don't want to write it down so much as make it up while drinking Margaritas (this is my favourite party trick).

Also, and this is important, is anyone else having major issues with the auto-format? I.E. it is a piece of shit and doesn't work? Because I am.
