I do love my British Miniseries

So, after the high of Downton Abbey, and the glorious discovery of North and South, (I may have already babbled about them on my blog Wayward City where it is easier to post links. And photos!) I decided to keep searching for that british miniseries high.

This was a bad idea, because I ignored my better sense and tried the Tenant of Thornfieldsomethingsomething Hill/Hall, hush up, it is hard to remember names, which is an Anne Bronte novel. And those never end well. And this one looks like it is not going to end well. Or if it does end well, it is only because terrible things have happened and only those who have been broken can be together.

So basically our lovely lady has run away from her attractive and abusive husband with her child and we get to watch her be mean to the guy nearby that is falling in love with her although she doesn't want him to. Although, she should probably not stand ALL UP IN HIS FACE while making impassioned statements about how he would suit her perfectly if she is trying to put him off. Just saying. Dear Director person, yes, I know you are trying to show attraction. Maybe wait more than 30 minutes in a 3 hour miniseries before you make them stand in personal space like that. Go watch North and South. She refused to shake his hand! It was awesome! Thank you, RabbitlovesNorthandSouth

Also, she might want to give the farmer guy the hint to stop kissing everybody! In fact, maybe we should have that discussion with ALL THE MEN IN THIS MOVIE. Also with the director about the fact that kissy noises are not all that sexy and some of us would like some more of that sweeping score in North and South. Actually, maybe we should just watch that again? Twice in one week isn't too much, right? I'll still be ok and won't decide that I really really like shouty men who run cotton mills, yes?

Dear Hobbit,

I love you for bullying me into Downton Abbey, but now hold you somewhat responsible for not having bullied me into watching North and South earlier. Whether or not you knew about it is immaterial. Also, you should watch it.

yours in BBC affection,
Rabbit

Dear People Who Think I am Talking about the Civil War series,

I am not.

Sidenote: They have unions in North and South! and cotton mills! and strikes! It is oddly time appropriate!
