Jedusor has become even more annoying since Jigger told us that he would let her remain a prefect for the rest of the year at the meeting I requested today. I heard that she pinned up that poem again in the common room from Wilkes, but I don't feel like going down to see for myself. It's all rather boring to me now, and I hope that I'm not the only one who feels so. Hmm. Am I investing too much confidence in my fellow students by assuming they'd be mature about this? Nevermind. I most likely am.
I would say that this year has been nothing but disappointing, but that would mean that I had some shred of hope for it. Most of my "peers" are a pack of vulgar plebeians that act as repulsively and improperly as they possibly can, and it seems the only thing I can depend on my Head of House for is that wide-eyed stupidity that runs rampant in this school. Did I just insult Jigger? Why, yes, I did! Tell him. He won't do anything. Or he can't do anything else, I should say. He just assigned me to watch some fifth year Ravenclaw write lines instead of patrolling for three nights out of the week for the next few months. I imagine Jigger thought I'd be crushed from not being able to catch curfew breakers every weeknight because I happen to report them unlike some of the feebler prefects. Such perception, that man has.
Rodolphus, I meant to write to you, but I became quite laden with assignments and prefect duties that I never could find the time to sit down and do so. But I am sure that winter in Arles will be undoubtedly more pleasant than anything East Germany had to offer. Give Mother and Father my best wishes, won't you?
