Actually managed to finish up all of my work in time to enjoy the weekend. Joy of joys. Now if only there was something to do.
I ran into Emma the other day. I seem to be doing that quite often, and not because I'm trying. Not that I wouldn't try... The castle is absolutely stifling and I had to get out, so I went for a walk around the grounds. Of course she was there, doing pretty much the same. We actually had a very pleasant conversation. I have to admit that around her I feel very....relaxed. I found myself able to joke and tease her better than many others I've hung around with. She's certainly a better sport than some of my dorm mates. And she is kind of cute...
She wants to teach me how to bake of all things. I could care less (though I'm told there is chocolate involved which is a plus) but as that would give me more time to spend with her... I'm not completely opposed to the idea. I have to convince the house elves to leave the kitchen though, or something. I'd almost enlist the help of Kreacher, I'm sure he could get rid of them temporarily, but he might tell my parents. And the thought of me doing something as better befits a house elf might kill them. Or me. So for now I shall have to find my own way to get them out. I wonder if Emma knows exactly how much I'm lowering myself by doing this with her?
The only thing that worries me is her friendship with my brother and his friends. I hope I don't have to deal with them very much just to be able to talk to her. Though she's seen how Lupin and I get on so I doubt that will be an issue.
Emma,
If you still want use of the kitchen, I'm going to need to know when. It might not be as easy as I thought to temporarily rid the place of house elves. A specific day and time will make it much easier to coordinate.
Sincerely,
The Great RB
