Iceland & Scotland 2012

Day 1- Fly to Iceland, we fly Iceland air which is nice but a bit cramped. The flight is seven hours, I try to sleep but some drunken cunt keeps laughing, she shuts up after a lot of people start telling her to. When we land we quickly notice how different the landscape is this close to the arctic, plus the island is one giant volcano. We get dropped off at our apartment which looks like Ikea hell. After a quick breakfast at the bakery across the street we are picked up to go ride horses. Icelandic horses are smaller than others and gentler but for some reason I am a bit scared. My horse freaks a bit when I get on but she just wanted some water, after she is very calm. We take an hour and half or so ride through the country side. We get dropped at our place and we walk about and get lunch. The ride to the blue Lagoon shows up an hour early and doesn't call or ring and quickly bails. After an hour of calling some one finally shows up. It is an hour to the spa but worth the wait, when I get in the water I wonder how humans evolved to live out of the water. After soaking, a facial and more soaking we are prunes and head back. There are signs that say the water is bad for your hair but it did wonders on my dreads. The driver on the way back did not want to drop us at our place and dumps us off on a main street. We find out later that this company has a bad rep about this. We find a small Italian place for dinner. I managed to sleep well even though the bed is really hard.
Day 2- we have breakfast at the same bakery and then are picked up for the golden circle tour. The weather turns a bit bad but I think it makes the experience a bit more fun. We stop at a ancient volcano that has collapsed and a big waterfall. We then stop at Gulfoss, which is a massive waterfall with several turns that are close to being right angles. There is rock out crop in the middle which you can walk on and a path so you can go to the top. We spend an hour there but it is freezing and Kymm forgot gloves. Next up is Geyser and Strokkur which erupts several times when we are there. We go to the place where North america and Europe are pulling away from each other, we hike about for an hour. We go to a fancy place for dinner. Downside of the day is I found out that my boot has a small hole in the sole and they are the only shoes I have with me.
Day 3- Up early for the flight to Scotland. A short flight to Glasgow. I notice the land change to lush green mountains and hills full of sheep. We have to take a bus to the train station, while in route I take in all the architecture. We have a two hour train ride to Edinburgh. While in route I sit back looking at the landscape and wonder why it took half my life to travel back to Europe.
