music in 2011
After Backandtotheleft broke up I needed to take a break from music for a bit, way too burned out. What I didn't know was how long that would be and how difficult it would to get the creative juices flowing again. Several times I would start something then get fustrated and quit. I think that most of the stuff I would write sounded too much like backandtotheleft. Not that that is bad, I am proud of what we did, it just seemed like I wasn't matching what was in my head. I bought some new gear, and some vintage stuff, and put the two main synths that we used on Obsolete on the back burner. I spent time rereading the instructions to have a better understanding of the synths. I started to write tracks that I liked. I ended up with ten of them tht I thought would be a new cd. They sounded like I merged all the previous projects into one but looking back I think I missed the mark on some of them. I started writing stuff that I would have put under what we were doing as Battl. I ended up turning on the virus and the Q, and wrote the ultimate rip off of every Backandtotheleft track. I ended up going back and rewriting it to something way better. As it stands I have 10 new tracks hat I am currently grooming. I have learned a bit more on sound design plus I am usuing sounds that would not be used in Battl. I am having fun pushing some of these into uncharted ralms and then back. Maybe I will record them and let everyone else hear them. In the end I am having fun writing music. Not sure if I will ever play live again. Only room for so many slighly overweight, balding rawkstars.
