I know. I'm a horrible, terrible neglectful person. I've neglected you all for far too long and I am here to make amends.
Life as of late is best explained in chronological order. Also, so much
has happened that to explain it all in depth would take forever, so
forgive me if things sound formulaic and cold.

It's my birthday! As per my birthday ritual, I dye my hair, or get it
dyed for me. Due to lack of $, I did it myself. I think Leeloo from
Fifth Element would have been proud. They also made me wear a silly
blinking-light sign that said "Kiss Me. It's My Birthday!" It worked,
much to my enjoyment.
Last year, only my boyfriend and my best friend showed up. Also I had serious dental pain so I felt miserable enough.
This year was VERY different. A lot of the important people in my life showed up and we all had a pretty great time.
The important people...
The love of my life, Sparky and I.
My good friend BM on the left, and my BEST friend JL on the right. They
both wore eyeliner for the occasion because I like boys in eyeliner.
Myself and the lovely Miss S.
And the tipsy LM.
Myself and the oh so naughty Mrs. SP.
Sparky's brother
yourconscience_, who didn't like the camera too much.
One of my oldest (in terms of length of friendship not age) friends,
mnemonicovrload .
Also, some old and new friends came out to share their birthday wishes.
DJ Albedo (
albedo_lens) from Dissent who played one of my favourite songs, Remnants
by Spahn Ranch. It's great for dancing.
kidd_dinosaur
, who I've known for years.
And
blame01, who I've known for maybe a month.
The Gifts! These are the highlights of what I got.
The lovely Miss S decided I needed some "bling" in my pants. Eight
(Eight!!!) pairs of thongs, each with something shiny on it.
JL got me the best effing shirt EVER. The Misfits, from Jem and the
Holograms.
We are The Misfits
Our Songs Are Better
We are The Misfits
The Misfits
We're Gonna Get Her
mnemonicovrload got me something that I'll definitely be reading really soon. I'm all about the
earth and the green stuff.
All in all it was probably the best birthday I've had in a while,
possibly ever. Thank you to all the people who made it possible.

I took my mother to Windsor for eye surgery. She had to get a serious
cateract (sp?) removed and I was unemployed and therefore free to take
her there.
I probably wasn't the best choice to drive through Detroit
to get there, due to verbal road rage in crazy traffic. You can't swear
in front of my religious and conservative mother. I had to get creative
with the expletives to make it through the drive back and forth.
Also, I wasn't the best choice to help her with her recovery since I am
extremely squeamish when it comes to the eye. When I went to her room
she was doing great and was having no problems. I looked at the patch
over her eye and almost fainted. The nurses had to sit me down and give
me juice. I'm such a dork.
She is doing well now and is seeing better out of that one eye than she
has in years. She goes to get the other eye done on May 10 2005 but I
can't go with her. Why? Because on ...

I got a job!
I am now working at SS Greenhouses at their two locations in Sarnia as
a cashier and a helper. The pay is crap and the hours are hellish, but
the experience more than makes up for it.
I want to go to school to be a Horticultural Technician and getting
paid to learn for a bit before college isn't a bad idea. Expecially
since I wasn't 100% sure about the field when I went into the job. I am
now and that's a HUGE deal for me.
I've never known what I wanted to do
for a job before. EVER. It's very strange and liberating. I have a goal
to work towards now instead of wandering aimlessly through life.

I just finished reading The Cider House Rules. It was an amazing book.
Anyone else read the book? Have you seen the movie? Any good?
That's all that's new and exciting for now and I hope you've all
forgiven me for my absence. I don't know how long it will be before I
can write in here again, but I'll do my best
