This was supposed to be done by Christmas, but we know how holidays get. >.> But Remus couldn't let the New Year start without this getting done.
Prompt:
chocolates.
Remus remembered well enough
the first Christmas when Sirius had given him a box of chocolates. That morning when the owl had arrived he had stared at the box in disbelief, while a smile had slowly crept along his lips. He remembered all that so well, actually, that for a few years now - along with whatever else he would have gotten him - a box of chocolates was always one of his gifts to Sirius. Big or small, it was always there.
This year, however, the box had not been under the tree on Christmas morning. It didn't come later on in the day, either. He hadn't said a word on why; it had simply not been there.
That was, at least, until New Years eve. But instead of saying anything, and instead of leaving it under the tree, Sirius would find his box of chocolates on his desk in his apartment along with a bottle of bubbly.
To make it a proper present, there were two chocolates missing from the box even if none of the spots were empty. On one of them, a small and rolled up piece of parchment included a small note saying 'I would never forget,' while the other spot (the one that belonged right in the center) had the most important part of his Christmas presents even if the day had passed a week ago. It held
a ring and, underneath it, there was another small piece of parchment.
Sirius,
I figured a surprise on New Years eve couldn't hurt. I saw that ring months ago, and I couldn't tear my eyes away from it. You don't need to wear it, it is simply my way of saying that I love you. And that I'm yours. So you may keep it safe somewhere, or you may wear it, but no matter what... I am yours. Always.
Love,
Remus
He figured Sirius wouldn't miss those two chocolates that were missing. He had substituted them with something much better, after all.
