All okay in the end

I'm going to start this post by saying that everything turned out okay in the end.

In August, I found a lump in my right breast.  I had been to the doctor for my yearly "woman's appointment" just a month prior, so I knew that this was a sudden development.  Stupidly, I kept this information to myself for a day, but gbcrush noticed that something was wrong.  When I told him, he encouraged me to go to the doctor immediately.  That was on a Tuesday night.  I went to the doctor on Thursday.  My wonderful doctor said that the lump was probably a cyst, but she wanted me to go for a mammogram ASAP.

So, in August of 2011, at the age of 32, I had my very first mammogram.  That was one of the few times in my life that I have been grateful to be well endowed.  The actual mammogram was only slightly uncomfortable, but not painful at all.  I do feel sorry for any small breasted women or men who have to have one, though.

After about half an hour of waiting (GB came with me, thank goodness!), they came out to tell me that the mammogram was inconclusive.  They sent me down the hall for a sonogram.  Almost as soon as the sonogram tech got the wand on my she started bellowing "huge cyst! HUGE cyst!"  (She was very loud for such a skinny woman.)  She then told me to wipe off the sonogram goo and get dressed.

And that was that.  Diagnosis: huge cyst.  Treatment: none.
