Little Rock

Jun 29, 2011 07:21

This past weekend gbcrush  & I went to Little Rock, AR.  Why?  It was the American TaeKwanDo Association's (ATA) World Championship's event.  This event is the end of the 2010-2011 tournament year and the beginning of the 2011-2012 tournament year for the ATA.

On Friday they finished the 2010-2011 year with the Top 10 competitions.  GB had qualified for two events, traditional form & weapon's form, for his belt rank, age group, and gender (2nd & 3rd degree black belts, 30-39 year old men)  You can see a video of his weapon form from Friday here.  Although he competed very well, GB did not place in the Top 10 competition.

On Sunday they started the 2011-2012 tournament year with open competitions.  GB competed in traditional form, weapon form, and sparring.  Click here for video of his traditional form.  The end result of Sunday's competition was that GB got 2nd place for his weapon form!

Still photos from the weekend are available herejust_showtune , there is one I took for your benefit.  The convention center had some Chihuly pieces.  Enjoy!

One other random note about Little Rock.  Apparently, they have no idea what ginger ale is.  Perhaps more on that later....
