Ambient noise
Of course, the things that I've seen and experienced help to define the places I've been. Belize was best defined by the green of the jungle, the color of the birds, and the trips out and about. Haiti was spent watching the stars, filling generators with diesel, and smelling the smells. ZOMG, the Smell of Haiti. *shudder* Dom Rep was about the music and dancing, and the friendship and camaraderie of those who got to share in that (mostly good) experience. Katrina/Rita was about living in the oddest of places: a gym floor, an airport concourse, a tent in a great big parking lot.
