Fresh Out of Witty Subject Lines
Whew! It's been a busy weekend. I've wanted to update, but haven't had a chance to do it! But now I'm just sitting here with a banana with Nutella and a cup of coffee while waiting for laundry to dry, so I'll give a quick summary of the highlights.
The short version is that twilightsorcery got married yesterday here in Philly (congrats!), and ragdoll and its_art came into town for the wedding. So I got to catch up with them in person for the first time in almost two years. \o/
Friday: its_art arrived in Philly and we met up for dinner -- sushi; yay!
Saturday: Completely. Exhausting. Early in the morning, my (now former) roommate moved out. In the afternoon, my new roommate moved in. While all of this was going on, I was doing major cleaning in anticipation of ragdoll's arrival.
(A couple of side notes re: roommates... When the former roommate moved out, she left some things here that wouldn't fit into the truck and said she's be back for them in a couple of hours. That was two days ago. The things are still here. Quite odd. The new roommate, though, seems very cool. I'm happy with this arrangement.)
When ragdoll got here, we rushed off almost immediately to meet its_art for dinner at Salento. And immediately after that, we rushed over to twilightsorcery's pre-wedding party. That was a lot of fun; there were a couple of people there I hadn't seen in ages, and a whole lot of new-to-me people who were very smart and awesome. I'll have to see if I can track them down on Facebook or some such place.
Sunday: ragdoll and I took it easy in the afternoon. We just had sandwiches from the deli next door for lunch and hung out with teh dawg. That evening was twilightsorcery's wedding, which was lovely and went very well. twilightsorcery looked incredibly happy, so I'm thrilled for her (even if ragdoll and I couldn't help laughing at wildly inappropriate times). I also got to catch up with another friend I hadn't seen in a long while, so that was an added bonus.
In short again, it was awesome seeing everyone. The down side to all of this, though, is that I've had almost no time to prepare for my oral exam. And I have to have my presentation and powerpoint basically ready by 2:00 tomorrow afternoon so that I can run it by my advisor. PANIC! D:
At least I expect Ari will leave me alone and let me work this evening. All the excitement this weekend -- including meeting the new roommate's cat, which was pretty hilarious -- totally wore her out.
Can't want to have orals over and done with so I can breathe a bit, write some more ficlets, and catch up on hp_beholder. (Everyone's still reading the fest, right??)
...Wow, I think this might actually be the most dull and inarticulate post I've ever made. I think I'll be taking a nap now.
