So comprehensive exams are over, and I've officially survived my first year of grad school at Penn. ::collapses:: I feel like I have a lot to say, but I'm too exhausted to type it all out. Here's a very abridged version, then.
Apparently there is a ridiculous tradition in the anthropology department here. When the first year grad students have finished comps, they're supposed to run outside and jump in the fountain in the Museum courtyard. Pretty absurd, right? Well, yeah, but who am I to break with a completely absurd tradition? ::smirk::
Once I went home, dried out, and got dressed again, I met up with a bunch of folks including
twilightsorcery,
miss_yt, and
ornithoptercat for dinner (Indian food; yay!) and PotC 3. Dinner was a Very Good Thing. I was feeling like I'd been run down by the Knight Bus (twice) beforehand, and I realized that it was probably because I was dehydrated and malnourished from living on coffee and snack food for the last several days while in comps review hell. I felt considerably less dead after eating. The movie was much fun, but to avoid being spoilerish, I'll just say: Jack/Barbosa = OTP!! Mwah!
There was more geekiness (gaming!) today. Still feeling like I've been run down by the Knight Bus, but only once.
Tomorrow several of my classmates and I are planning a trip to the beach to relax and celebrate having survived comps. I'm definitely looking forward to that.
I plan to finish my holiday weekend up with some manic fic writing on Monday. Pimping dates for
pimp_my_3some are looming, and I've not written one. word. of my fic. Fortunately, I should be able to focus on it and knock it out in the next few days. My primary goals for the month of June, in fact, are planning for Sectus, giving myself a crash course in German, and writing as much fic as humanly possible.
I think it's gonna be a good summer. :D
Man, I'm so fried right now.
Oh, and P.S. -- I'm slowly working on that 'personal canon' meme, and will have the full results posted within a couple of days.
