Band Camp: day 8

Aug 06, 2004 21:02

Today was literally hell. Why is it that freshmen have to be picked on? I just don't understand it. This morning we had to bring our instruments out. I never realized how hard it was to actually hold it up and walk...boy gravity... I hate it. Well Omar and Grillo kept telling me to keep my horn up. Did it ever occur to them that I have a back problem and that I am shorter than them?? Obviously not. I know my horn was dragging down a bit, but they don’t need to tell me what to do. I wouldn’t mind a drum major, Mr. Terrall, a marching leader, or a section leader telling me what to do. Omar, Brent, Grillo, and Greg we're being total idiots today… wait I take that back Grillo wasn't that bad at all. Anyways we finally do our drill, and I just hesitated on a couple of spots, but that was it.
Lunch I sat with the same people... then came rehearsal. I started to get a migraine, and at this point, anyone pissing me off I would attack with a harsh tone of voice. I tried to talk to Soneen down the section, and Omar purposely kept getting in the way, so I called Omar an asshole. He yelled out “OOO Mr. Terrall Amy cussed! She said a bad word!" then Grillo went “Amy Sweared ". Actually that was pretty funny once Grillo said it. Plus he didn't say it as loud as Omar. We had to stand up and play the opener, and once again my horn kind of dragged. So Omar kept trying to tell me what to do...
“Keep your horn up Amy!"
“Don’t tell me what to do...” I remarked
“Would you rather want us to tell you, or Mr. T?" He asked
“Mr. Terrall “I replied with a smile
We had to play the opener again, and once again Omar told me what to do. I ignored him this time, and turned around to Tim who asked me very politely to bring my horn up.
“Amy, just bring it up a little more."
“Alright Tim, thank you!” I smiled again.
Finally we had a break, and I came back to sit down, and Omar asked
“Is Amy still mad?"
“Does it look like it?" I growled with a glare.
At this point Omar started saying all this crap, and I just ignored him...somehow I did it to where I couldn't even hear his voice, and then finally I said,
“Just do me a favor, and shut up”
“He’s just trying to apologize, Amy..." Brent said
“Doesn’t look like it!" I said sharply
“Looks like it to me!" He replied
“Fine if you're going to be like that I just won't talk to you...” were Omar's last words
So we went outside to play the Opener, and yes, I kept my horn up pretty well... I went through the pain. Finally, we went back in and were dismissed. I went outside to wait on my sister, and put my water bottle and trumpet by the trash can. Finally she came out and put her stuff in the grass. I decided to get my stuff and put it over there. Brent happened to put his stuff beside mine... So I picked my water bottle and case and while he was walking through the crowd of people, I cut in front of him. Boy what a bitch I was, but hey I don’t like it once they do crap to me like that. We happened to be taking Jack home again, so we were really crammed in the car. (My other sister Jennifer was taking us home, and she had he boyfriend and Kacee's boyfriend in the car)
Once I got home my migraine was at full extent and I just let the tears flow. I told my mom about my day, and she said that I handled it fairly well. They better not mess with me on Monday. I'm not giving them the time and day. That's it. Yeah right... like I can wait till Monday...puh
