First off, i think it is double-plus *awesome* that noaphex and jenerator just got His 'n Her's Civic Si's for the garage. That pic of them side-by-side, purchased days apart, made me truly happy. =)

I still get a little teary-eyed sometimes when i think back on the fact that Molly and sindell357's blue Si won't be growing old together...

I am much, much closer now to actually acquiring my "new" art car platform, which turns out to be a 1996 Honda Accord. Lately i've been spending an hour each night (midnight-1am) investigating replacement parts for her. I need a pair of headlamp assemblies, a front bumper (cover), a new hood, grille and could use a new rear passenger door skin. I found someone (in Lockhart) who'll sell me a door ($100), hood ($75) and headlights ($35 each)... all for $200. Not sure how the Hell i'd get an Accord door and hood back from Lockhart, but i guess i'll cross that bridge when i actually get to it!

Yesterday on the way home, it occur'd to me that as long as i'm painting the hood and at least one door, i might as well make them white (along with a few other select panels), add our insignias and turn her into a KarmaPolice squadcar. That'd be something i could add onto for a good while, and it'd be fun to have an "other car" which is a street-legal KarmaPolice vehicle. She even has a ball on the back already for towing shtuff!

Along with the cosmetic-ish replacements, the engine already has 215k miles and although it "runs great" (minus the slow oil leak), i've been looking into addressing this as well.

Primarily because i've been doing engine-swap homework lately. Looking ahead to the day when Molly gets her transplant, which may happen in a year or two... Not anything 2 Fast, 2 Furious... but my goal is now to find the person who IS making this kind of "performance upgrade" engine-swap... and then i can acquire a new VTEC engine, transmission, axles et al for Molly. ;) Waaaay easier if i lived in Dallas or Houston, as i've been checking out their Craig's Lists and people tweeking on their Hondas is fairly common. Still, it's fun to fantasize about dropping an Si engine or a 2001+ VTEC in. It'll happen sooner or later-

For the moment, the only things i'm seriously looking into is a new pair of headlamps- the original factory ones she's got now are really opaque due to being fried in the Sun for eight years... and a new O2 sensor and catalytic convertor. I downloaded a copy of the 2000 Civic service manual, and i think i will replace my passenger's power-window motor/regulator myself. I haven't got a quote for parts/labor less than $400 and that just sounds craaaazy. The part itself is only $120ish! The exhaust shtuff i think i'll pay to get installed...

I can't wait 'til i can get this Accord road-worthy and over to my house. Fixing it up is gonna' be FUN! =D
