Stanley Cup Finals, Game 7 !
I'm finally allowing myself to get excited 'bout tomorrow night's game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. My Eastern Conference fave, the Pittsburgh Penguins are playing their first Finals Game 7 in 42 years. I have been a fan of theirs since they were the laughingstock of hockey... kinda' like the Mavericks were before Cuban came along and made them relevant.
Last year, my Pens lost in the Finals to the Detroit Redwings in 6 games.
This year's Finals are a rematch; the Pens won game six and have forced a winner-take-all game 7 in Detroit... and it doesn't hurt that i hate the Redwings. Their goalie, Osgood, even wears the red oldschool CCCP-style helmet. He prolly bought it at Dominic Hasek's garage sale...
I'm placing my "over/under on number of octopi that land on the ice" at 2+ and i really hope someone tosses a whopper out there. The octopus is one of my favorite creatures- don't get me wrong. But Detroit's fanbase is a weird bunch, and this is the only redeeming 'tradition' they have...
The Penguins are serious underdogs to be sure... but they can pull out the win. No, really!
