I didn't realize VM started at 8 PM last night. I was disappointed to miss the first episode smooshed together with the last to make a "series finale". I still have the feeling if I saw both episodes together my ultimate reaction would remain the same. I feel gypped as a fan!
Making VM two hours last night does not change the fact that those episodes were designed as standalones, and the very last episode didn't have enough resolution for concluding a series satisfyingly. They were good episodes that should have left the fans in agony waiting for the new season, but now fans are agonizing over not knowing what happened to beloved characters left in depressing and/or perilous circumstances.
Officially, the CW network has until June 15 to make a decision on the show's fate, but most of the creative talent involved have begun moving on to new projects. The network built up the finale as a season finale to the end, but the show was not listed on the network's schedule at the upfronts.
The only potentially good news is that
the show's creator has mentioned resolving the series in a big screen adaptation a la Firefly. His wanting to conclude his story that way doesn't mean the project will come to fruition, though. Should I hope?
