PROJECT RUNWAY FINALE

"Can we have one last 'gather round'?" And with those words, Tim Gunn's role becomes ever so apparent. He is never a judge, impartial as the sky is blue...and always a fa...er...motherly figure mentoring the contestants and watching them grow.

Many have complained that this season is a bit boring compared to past ones. I think people are mistaken. This season has what I would call a "quieter" cast. As quiet as you can call Chris' laugh. lol. This season I think is my favorite, and the reason was that the clothes was really interesting and took precedence over the contestants in most cases.

I was really happy for Christian and he is the contestant I wanted to win. As a younger person myself, I was sort of rooting for him in as far as his youth isn't holding him back from being as talented as his elder peers. I was very pleasantly surprised with all 3 (all 5 actually) of the lines, and felt Tim's heartfelt final "gather round" speech was true. I didn't however think Jillian was going to win as so many others did, I thought perhaps Rami would steal the title.

The following I say as a "judge" because of course all the lines were fabulous and outstanding:

Jillian fugged up her line with those hats and her motherfucking equestrian fetish. Otherwise I felt she had some really sleek beautiful tops, but I hated almost all her pants, and I sooooo didn't dig that Earl Grey jacket everyone was swooning over. I didn't have an overall favorite from Jillian's collection but my compliment to her is that her entire line seemed ready to wear.

Rami's was surprisingly unique. I was very happy to see his variety, although the judges were right in saying his evening gowns were the best of his work. That golden gown was beautiful, especially the detail construction work. I was floored. The olive greenish one was great and I had always loved the black one with the hip hugger discs on it. Sadly I also agreed his non evening color choices were kinda blah! But despite that I was almost scared he would take the title.

Christian's line seems to be getting the most flak. I feel that the judges saw, what I saw. It wasn't a flashy (considerably) or experimental collection, but in fact what it was was a very advanced, masterful fashion line worthy to have shared the runway with all the much older and matured designers of the fashion world. Christian had a clear, consistent vision and he made his statement loud and clear with a meticulously created ensemble of hats, pants, and jackets. I think that even his model choice and outfit runway order was just dealt with so much intelligence and love that it would have been a travesty to NOT give him the win. As if this wasn't enough that feather organza gown at the very end was just fucking...no words, beautiful and amazing.

But, I was right there trembling and holding my breath when Christian's strong persona was on the verge of breaking under the dramatic pause before those final words. I was so happy I jumped and screamed out loud. Haha. I was also happy Rami seemed such an elegant loser. He really grew on me over the course of the show, though I initially didn't like him.

All in all this has been one of my favorite seasons even though it was a little more "quiet", in terms of the clothes I think it was phenomenal.
