I turn 20 tomorrow, I'm not stoked about it. I don't want to grow up or get older.
The past 40 days have been exhausting, I never spent this much time being sick or healing somehow.
I had a tonsillectomy, which was one of the most painful things I've been through. Then I got a watered down version of the flu.
Then to top it off I got MRSA. I have no idea how I got this last little treat, I'm betting I picked it up at the hospital and it just waited around for me to cut myself. For those unaware MRSA (aka THE SUPERBUG) is a variation of Staph that has evolved to survive treatment of most common antibiotics. Out of the 300,000 infected in 2005, around 20,000 died. I learned while researching MRSA that about 30% of people carry staph in their nostrils at all times, so 3 out of 10 people are awaiting a possible staph infection. Anyways the antibiotics I'm on are fucking brutal. They make me feel like shit all the time and I am always tired, but I only have 2 more days left, which is a fucking relief.
Researching your ailments can often scare the shit out of you, reading messageboards about Tonsillectomies the night before, was not a good idea. Reading about MRSA gave me this horrible sinking feeling in my stomach when I read that a bunch of young healthy adults had died out of the blue from the infection.
I've actually been in good spirits throughout all of this, but It's to the point where I'm just sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. Besides doing the bands I haven't been doing anything other than trying to stay well. I'd like to finally get healthy and start working out or skating again, I haven't really done anything active in a few months.
I'm getting a plane ticket to Austin for my birthday, going to be there the same week as Converge, Today Is The Day, and The Way It Is Fest. I'm really excited to get out of AZ and have a real vacation.
Other than being sick I've been really good, Alarm is getting a legit recording at the end of February and Fake Out is doing good too. Seen a lot of good movies with all this down time and already have like 15 good records from 2008.
